Behind the neatly arranged white sheets of a hotel room, there's a small threat often overlooked by tourists: bed bugs. They're tiny but can ruin a Vacation. A hotel employee shares a simple habit that could save Travelers from that unpleasant experience.

Quoted from the Mirror, an employee named Halee suggests tourists turn off the lights upon first entering their hotel room. Halee is a hotel worker known on TikTok via the account @haleewithaflair.

At first glance, the advice sounds odd, but she believes this simple step can save a Vacation from a bed bug infestation.

Halee recounts a story of a couple who woke up covered in bites. Upon investigation, the bites were caused by insects.

Since then, Halee regularly reminds guests to perform a quick inspection before unpacking their luggage.

According to Halee, the first step is to turn off all lights and close the curtains, making the room dark.

In the dark, a phone flashlight becomes the most effective detection tool.

Travelers are also advised to carefully check for small dark stains or blood spots, which could indicate the presence of these insects.

The areas to inspect aren't just the bed but also the curtains, as bed bugs can migrate there.

How luggage is placed significantly affects the risk. She recommends not putting suitcases on the bed, but rather on luggage racks or near the door.

Experts advise washing all clothes immediately after returning from a trip. This step ensures no bed bugs are brought home.
