Following Maresca, Amorim Becomes Sixth Sacked Manager in Premier League

The fierce competition of the English League has claimed another victim. Ruben Amorim officially became the sixth manager to lose his job in the Premier League, following Enzo Maresca who was earlier dismissed by Chelsea at the start of the year.
The 2025/2026 English League has only reached its halfway point, yet six managers have already fallen victim to dismissals.
Most recently, Manchester United made a major decision earlier this week by sacking Ruben Amorim from Old Trafford.

The Portuguese coach was dismissed after MU's 1-1 draw against Leeds United.
Amorim's sacking extends the list of managers who have fallen due to performance pressure in the world's most competitive league.
This series of dismissals began early in the season. Nottingham Forest became the first club to sack Nuno Espirito Santo on September 9, 2029.
Within weeks, other clubs followed suit. Graham Potter was dismissed by Brighton & Hove Albion after securing just one win and four losses in five matches.
Nuno Espirito Santo's replacement, Ange Postecoglou, was also fired by Nottingham Forest on October 18, 2025. He lasted only 39 days at The Garibaldi after failing to win any of his eight matches.
Wolverhampton then reshuffled their managerial position by sacking Vitor Pereira following disappointing results. Pereira suffered eight defeats and two draws in ten games.
Entering the 2026 New Year, pressure mounted uncontrollably at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea dismissed Enzo Maresca after poor results in his last seven matches, with only one victory.
Most recently, Amorim became the next to depart Old Trafford. Amorim is the sixth manager sacked since the start of this English League season and the second dismissed in early 2026.
It remains possible that more managers could face the same fate before season's end.
