Two Premier League giants who recently sacked their managers failed to secure victories. Manchester United were held to a Draw when visiting Burnley's home ground. Meanwhile, Chelsea fared worse, falling at Fulham's stadium.

Manchester United began the post-Ruben Amorim sacking era with a 2-2 draw against Burnley in their Premier League match at Turf Moor early Thursday, January 8, 2026 WIB. This marked United's first game since Amorim's dismissal and interim manager Darren Fletcher's initial test.

Burnley took an early lead in the 13th minute through young United defender Ayden Heaven's own goal, who misjudged Bashir Humphreys' cross. This forced United to chase the game from the outset.

United equalized in the 50th minute when Benjamin Sesko finished Bruno Fernandes' through ball with a first-time strike past Martin Dubravka.

Ten minutes later, Sesko struck again to put United ahead 2-1, converting Patrick Dorgu's pass with another first-time shot.

But United's lead lasted only six minutes. Jaidon Anthony leveled for Burnley with a powerful strike into the top corner despite pressure from Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw.

The draw sees United drop to seventh in the Premier League standings with 32 points from 21 matches, while Burnley remain in the relegation zone at 19th place with 13 points.

Chelsea Stumble in Liam Rosenior's New Era

Chelsea began their post-Enzo Maresca era with a bitter result. Visiting Craven Cottage, The Blues returned empty-handed after a 1-2 defeat to Fulham in the Premier League early Thursday, January 8, 2026 WIB.

Chelsea's situation worsened in the 22nd minute when Marc Cucurella received a straight red for fouling Harry Wilson near the penalty area. Playing with 10 men, Chelsea struggled to develop their game and lost control.

Fulham dominated possession and applied pressure. The hosts thought they'd scored through Wilson, but VAR disallowed it for Raul Jimenez's offside involvement. The first half ended goalless.

Fulham finally broke through in the 55th minute when Jimenez headed home Sander Berge's cross at the far post for a 1-0 lead.

Chelsea equalized in the 72nd minute through Liam Delap, who tapped in after Antonee Robinson failed to clear Pedro Neto's corner at the far post.

But Chelsea's revival was short-lived. In the 81st minute, Harry Wilson secured Fulham's victory by converting the rebound after Robert Sanchez parried Emile Smith Rowe's shot.

This defeat drops Chelsea to eighth place with 31 points, while Fulham sit ninth in the Premier League standings with equal points.
