The Indonesia Open Footgolf Tournament 2025 was officially held on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Palm Hill Golf Sentul, Bogor Regency, West Java. This tournament marks a pivotal moment for footgolf development in Indonesia as it united participants from two countries – Indonesia and Malaysia – in a competitive international-scale event for the first time.

The event was organized by the Indonesian Footgolf Association (IFA) in collaboration with Palm Hill Golf Sentul. A total of 40 participants competed, including approximately 12 to 14 Malaysian participants who brought professional experience and skill levels. The presence of these international participants added unique dynamics while presenting challenges for local competitors.

Chairman of the Indonesian Footgolf Federation, Amrit Punjabi, regarded the Indonesia Open Footgolf Tournament 2025 as a strategic step in building the national footgolf ecosystem. He emphasized that this tournament serves not only as a competition but also as a learning platform for improving the quality of domestic athletes.

“Preparations seem quite solid. We have about 40 participants this time. Even approximately 12-14 from Malaysia also came,” stated Amrit Punjabi.

Amrit added that most Malaysian participants were professional footgolfers, providing valuable references and experiences for Indonesian athletes still in development stages.

“They're truly professional footgolfers. This will be a great learning opportunity for us. Who knows, we might learn more about footgolf from these experienced players,” he continued.

Amrit further explained that through this tournament, the federation aims to expand international networks while promoting footgolf's popularity in Indonesia. He believes the sport holds significant growth potential as it aligns with Indonesia's soccer-centric culture.

“Especially for Indonesia, where everyone's soccer-crazy. This is the perfect alternative sport,” Amrit remarked.

The tournament attracted several public figures with soccer and futsal backgrounds, including former soccer/futsal athlete Imam Fauzi Rahmawan, comedian/ex-soccer player Oki Rengga, and iconic soccer commentator Valentino Jebret. Their participation drew public attention and enhanced the event's appeal.

Participant Oki Rengga confessed to feeling considerable pressure competing against international players, calling it a crucial lesson for self-improvement.

“I felt quite pressured today because it's a tournament with overseas opponents. There was significant pressure on me,” Oki expressed.

Oki acknowledged his performance fell short of expectations but views the tournament as motivation to enhance skills through more serious training.

“Judging from my game earlier, I clearly need more practice. But revenge remains possible later,” he stated.

Oki also hopes this tournament introduces footgolf to wider audiences, potentially cultivating new athletes who could represent Indonesia internationally.

“I hope people get interested in joining future tournaments. I want new athletes to emerge in Indonesian footgolf – quality players who can represent us internationally since there's a World Cup too,” he said.

With this successful event, the Indonesian Footgolf Federation aims to broaden footgolf's recognition and establish it as a competitive alternative sport. The tournament is expected to become a regular fixture to boost athlete achievements and strengthen Indonesia's position in global footgolf.
