Belitung – The crashing waves of Tanjung Tinggi Beach were no longer the only natural music in Belitung in early December 2025. The roar of jetski engines filled the air, marking the peak of the national championship, the Aquabike Indonesian Championship 2025. This Gempita Belitung event wasn't just a race, but the dramatic finale of four race series determining the national champion.

With points standings between riders so close, the Belitung race became the highly anticipated ultimate decider. Thirty riders from across Indonesia descended upon the clear waters flanked by Belitung's iconic expanse of granite boulders, all vying for the top title.

The two-day competition featured three categories testing technique and endurance: Endurance, Circuit, and Parallel Slalom.

Two Days of Battle on the Waves

The first day opened with high tension in the Endurance GP2 category. Fajar Ramadan (number 22, Seadoo) dominated the track for 25 minutes and secured victory.

Tension continued in the longer, 35-minute Endurance GP1. Even the 2025 Aquabike World Champion, Boanerges Rataq, participated in this class. However, victory was seized by Kanina Ramadhina, who managed to overtake Boanerges who finished in second place.

The second day presented a moment of local pride. Hilman Kurniawan, a native son of Belitung, performed powerfully in the Master Endurance GP1 category. From the moment the start flag dropped, he took the lead relentlessly and steadily widened the gap from his pursuers.

Behind him, a fierce duel unfolded between Kanina Ramadhina and Boanerges. Boanerges's attempt to seize second place seemed promising at one point, but engine trouble he experienced ultimately dashed those hopes.

Belitung's Unique Wave Challenge and the Future of Sport Tourism

Jetski racing has unique characteristics dependent on the terrain. Unlike races on calm waters like lakes, the ocean waves of Belitung present their own challenges and dynamics, testing engine power and rider strategy.

The successful hosting of this prestigious final is hoped to be a catalyst for the development of sport tourism in Belitung. The island offers not only a challenging race arena but also other sports tourism attractions combining activity with natural beauty, such as the Black Rocks Golf Course with its spectacular views.

Belitung's main strength as a destination lies in the blend of soothing tranquility and stunning natural beauty, far from metropolitan bustle. By successfully hosting a national sporting event while maintaining its peaceful natural charm, Belitung further solidifies its position as a leading Indonesian tourism destination offering a complete experience: adrenaline on the water and peace on its shores.
