Vietnam U-22 secured a 2-0 victory over Malaysia U-22 in the final Group B match of SEA Games 2025 football at Rajamangala Stadium on Thursday, December 11, 2025, afternoon WIB. This result revived the hopes of the Indonesia U-22 team to qualify for the semifinals.

Indonesian public concerns that Vietnam U-22 and Malaysia U-22 would play safely during the Group stage of SEA Games 2025 football were proven unfounded. The match between both teams ended with Vietnam's victory.

Vietnam's two goals were scored by Nguyen Hieu Minh in the 11th minute and Pham Minh Phuc in the 22nd minute.

The win against Malaysia placed the Golden Star Warriors as group champions with six points from two matches.

Meanwhile, Harimau Malaya became runners-up with three points and a +1 goal difference.

The Vietnam vs Malaysia result opened an opportunity for Indonesia to play their final Group C match against Myanmar on Friday, December 12, 2025.

Currently, Indonesia sits in second place in Group C standings with zero points and a -1 goal difference.

To advance to the semifinals, Indonesia must meet two requirements. First, the Vietnam vs Malaysia match must not end in a draw.

This condition has been fulfilled after Vietnam defeated Malaysia.

Second, Indonesia must secure a decisive victory against Myanmar. If this second requirement is met, Indra Sjafri's squad's chances of qualifying for the semifinals increase significantly.

Additionally, Indonesia must also await the result of Thailand vs Singapore in the final Group A match.

Should Singapore pull off a surprise victory, competition for the single best runner-up semifinal ticket would intensify.
