Under the clear blue sky at Marina Boom Beach in Banyuwangi on Sunday morning, a row of yachts sailed elegantly one by one into the dock.

The vessels carried flags from various countries including France, England, Italy, Denmark, Russia, the Netherlands, and Australia.

They were not ordinary sailors, but part of the Sail to Indonesia 2025 expedition, an annual event connecting global ocean explorers with the maritime charm of the archipelago.

This moment felt special for Banyuwangi. Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani warmly welcomed participants on the shoreline with the distinctive greeting of East Java's easternmost community.

“Welcome to the Regency of Sunrise of Java, a city rich in arts, culture, and natural beauty. Our city is also known for its hospitable people,” Ipuk addressed the sailors who had just set foot on Blambangan soil.

The arrival of this international fleet symbolized not only cultural exchange but also a major opportunity to promote Banyuwangi as a world-class marine tourism destination.

“The presence of the Sail to Indonesia 2025 yacht group is an honor for us. Enjoy Banyuwangi’s beauty and sailing experience,” Ipuk continued.

The welcoming atmosphere was festive. Gamelan melodies resonated while gandrung dancers moved gracefully under the sun, greeting the seafaring guests with Banyuwangi's signature dance recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The sailors captured the moment with cameras and phones, immersing themselves in the warm energy of the coastal community.

This year marks the second time Banyuwangi has been entrusted as a stopover point for the international maritime expedition initiated by PT Pelindo.

Previously, Sail to Indonesia 2025 participants had journeyed from New Zealand, crossing the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans while stopping at exotic destinations like Tual (Maluku), Labuan Bajo (NTT), Lombok, and Bali before finally anchoring in Banyuwangi.

The expedition involves 32 yachts symbolizing international friendship across oceans.

By Sunday, seven vessels had arrived at Marina Boom, while dozens more were still sailing from Bali, Lombok, and Labuan Bajo.

They are scheduled to arrive in waves over the coming days and will explore Banyuwangi for four days from October 4 to 7, 2025.

For Banyuwangi, the presence of these global sailors extends beyond tourism—it strengthens its image as a "Global Marine Regency."

Here, visitors discover harmony between nature, culture, and local hospitality—from Boom Beach sunrises to gandrung traditions coloring the dusk.

Through Sail to Indonesia 2025, Banyuwangi reaffirms itself as the archipelago’s eastern gateway greeting the world, where ocean, culture, and friendship anchor in perfect harmony.(Antara)
