The race at the top of the English Premier League has reignited. After Arsenal could only manage a 1-1 draw at Chelsea's home ground in week 13, their lead over Manchester City was reduced to five points.

The Gunners have collected 30 points, while City – who secured a narrow 3-2 victory against Leeds United – are chasing with 25 points.

Chelsea, playing with 10 men since the 38th minute, frustrated Arsenal. This draw at Stamford Bridge places The Blues third with 24 points, just below City who overtook them the previous day.

Arsenal Held at Stamford Bridge, City Win Dramatically

Manchester City capitalized perfectly. Their 3-2 win over Leeds United applied heavy pressure on Arsenal, who failed to extend their lead after being held to a 1-1 draw by Chelsea.

Arsenal, aggressive from the start, should have capitalized on Moises Caicedo's 38th-minute red card. Instead, Chelsea opened the scoring through Trevoh Chalobah's header three minutes after halftime.

Arsenal equalized only in the 59th minute through Mikel Merino's header from Bukayo Saka's cross.

The visitors nearly snatched a late winner, but goalkeeper Robert Sanchez heroically denied Merino's chance.

Two other opportunities from Jurrien Timber and Merino also missed the target. Arsenal left with just one point – a result that felt like defeat.

Mikel Arteta Disappointed with Draw Result

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta didn't hide his frustration.

"Both teams wanted to win, and the game didn't flow. There were many stoppages, fouls, yellow cards – not much fluidity," said Arteta.

"But after Caicedo's red card, we wanted to dominate. We failed, and we got four more yellow cards."

Arteta highlighted this week's difficulty following their 4-1 win over Tottenham and 3-1 Champions League victory against Bayern Munich.

Key absences like Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz, and Leo Trossard further unbalanced the squad.

"Overall it's a positive week given the high difficulty level. But I feel we should've won today – it didn't happen. That's a lesson for me."

Villa, Brighton and Red Devils Join the Heat

While the top-three battle intensifies, other clubs maintain European ambitions: Aston Villa secured their third straight win by defeating Wolverhampton 1-0, solidifying fourth place with 24 points.

Brighton beat Nottingham Forest 2-0, climbing to fifth with 22 points. Former "sleeping giants" Liverpool and Manchester United both claimed crucial wins.

Liverpool ended their poor run with a 2-0 victory at West Ham. Meanwhile, Manchester United defeated Crystal Palace 2-1, ending a three-match winless streak.

Conversely, the relegation zone looks increasingly grim for Leeds United, Wolverhampton, and Burnley – who all suffered defeats. Burnley have now lost nine times this season.
