World number one golfer according to the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings, Atthaya "Jeeno" Thitikul, reaffirmed her class. The young Thai star concluded the 2025 season in the most convincing way, winning the LPGA Tour CME Group Tour Championship for the second consecutive time at Tiburón Golf Club, Florida.
Despite being hampered by a left wrist injury, Jeeno delivered a solid performance throughout the four days. She carded scores of 67, 63, 64, and 68, finishing the tournament with a total of 26-under-par 262 – four strokes ahead of her compatriot, Pajaree Anannarukarn, who recorded 71-64-65-66. American golfer and world number two, Nelly Korda, took third place, finishing with a 20-under 268.
This victory marks Jeeno's third title of the 2025 season and her seventh LPGA trophy overall. The $4 million winner's check made her the fastest golfer to reach $17 million in career earnings on the LPGA Tour. Notably, this is also the first time the 22-year-old has secured three titles in a single season—surpassing her rookie 2022 season achievement of two wins.

Jeeno, the inaugural winner of the Women's Amateur Asia-Pacific in 2018, became the second Thai golfer to win the CME Group Tour Championship after Ariya Jutanugarn in 2017. She also joined the exclusive list of golfers who have won this season-ending tournament more than once, matching the feats of Lydia Ko (2014, 2022) and Ko Jin-young (2020, 2021).
New Records and Prestigious Awards
This win also secured two prestigious awards: the 2025 Rolex Player of the Year and the Vare Trophy for the lowest scoring average. Jeeno's average of 68.681 set a new single-season LPGA record, surpassing the legendary mark set by Annika Sorenstam (68.696) in 2002.
The Player of the Year race had narrowed down to two contenders: Jeeno and Japan's Miyu Yamashita, the 2025 Rookie of the Year. Yamashita needed a win at the CME Group Tour Championship to overtake Jeeno but could only manage a T36 finish.
With this Player of the Year title, Jeeno became the second Thai golfer to win it since the award's inception in 1966, following in the footsteps of Ariya Jutanugarn who won in 2016 and 2018.
"I feel like it's such an honor. The Vare Trophy and Player of the Year always represent how consistent you are throughout a long season. Holding those trophies gave me chills because of all the history from the players before," said Jeeno as quoted by apgc.online.
The 2025 season proved to be a stage of validation: Jeeno is not just a talented young player; she is now a leading force defining a new era on the LPGA Tour.
