Shooting on Extreme Trails, Amanda Manopo Learns Rhythm and Mountain Climbing Safety

Actress Amanda Manopo gained an unforgettable new experience while filming the horror movie "Dusun Mayit" on Mount Welirang, East Java. Beyond just acting, Amanda learned significant lessons about mountain climbing after navigating an extreme route in the dark.

Don't Rush While Climbing!

Filming on the steep trail made Amanda realize the importance of regulating body rhythm. She emphasizes that climbers should walk leisurely and not force their pace.

"The important thing is not to rush. Walk leisurely, regulate your breathing. If you force speed, your breathing and heart rate will suffer," she said in Jakarta on Tuesday, November 19, 2025.

This experience made Amanda understand that managing breath and maintaining a stable heart rate are the keys to ensuring a safe and comfortable climb.

Focus on Narrow Paths Bordering Cliffs

Besides rhythm, Amanda also learned how crucial focus is when traversing narrow paths directly bordering cliffs. 

According to her, staying calm actually helps the body adapt to the challenges of rugged terrain.

"Just relax. You'll get there eventually," said Amanda, who had previously prepared physically through regular jogging and walking practice before filming began.

This physical training proved helpful in overcoming the challenging route without experiencing any injuries throughout the shoot.

Descending During Maghrib as the Most Nerve-Wracking Moment

One of the most thrilling experiences for Amanda was the descent in minimal light. This demanded extra concentration from the entire team.

"Descending during maghrib is a bit scary because there are no lights," she said.

The lack of lighting meant every step had to be carefully considered to avoid slipping on the dark and slippery path.

Special Production Route: Narrower and Steeper

For the film's needs, the "Dusun Mayit" production team did not use the public hiking trail. They chose a narrower and more extreme route, forcing all cast and crew to heighten their vigilance.

Amanda explained that the terrain demanded everyone pay close attention to their footing to avoid falling. Nevertheless, the filming process went smoothly without significant incidents.

The Importance of Physical Preparation and Understanding the Terrain

From the entire process, Amanda concluded that physical preparation, focus, and understanding the environmental conditions are essential considerations for anyone wanting to climb a mountain.

This experience also provided Amanda with new insights into the world of mountaineering, something previously not closely associated with her activities as an actress.

The film "Dusun Mayit" tells the story of four students who climb Mount Welirang and end up lost in a mysterious village that demands sacrifices.
