Bali once again plays its role as a global stage. For the first time, Indonesia will host the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series 2026 on May 20-23, 2026, competing for the King Kahekili Trophy. This event marks a momentum for developing Nature Sports Tourism in Bali.
More than just an acrobatic cliff diving competition, this event serves as momentum for advancing natural Sports Tourism in Bali. It's a strategy positioning the Island of the Gods not merely as a vacation destination but as a world-class Sport Tourism arena.

Two iconic locations are prepared as competition venues: Kroya Waterfall in Buleleng Regency and the T-Rex cliff at Kelingking Beach, Nusa Penida, Klungkung Regency.
Athletes will perform acrobatic dives into the Indian Ocean waters from extreme heights, combining adrenaline, technical precision, and dramatic panoramas rarely seen in international competition calendars.
Male athletes will leap from 27 meters, while female athletes from 21 meters.
These heights are nearly triple Olympic diving platforms, with falling speeds reaching approximately 85 kilometers per hour.
Global Star Magnet
The Bali opening series will feature 24 male and female athletes from Australia, United States, Canada, France, Romania, and Mexico.
Seven-time consecutive world champion Rhiannan Iffland called Indonesia a destination distinct from previous series.
“Red Bull Cliff Diving has taken us to exotic waters worldwide. Indonesia offers not only stunning landscapes but also culture that will enrich our experience,” stated Iffland in her official release.
Alongside Iffland, cliff diving legend Gary Hunt and competition record-holder Constantin Popovici will participate.
These elite athletes' presence reinforces Bali's status as a destination capable of attracting the world's Extreme Sports elite.
Momentum for Nature Sports Tourism
Klungkung Deputy Regent Tjokorda Gde Surya Putra emphasized this event creates momentum for developing natural sports tourism in Bali.
He added that local governments stand ready to support the competition's execution to provide optimal experiences for athletes and crews arriving from various nations.
The event organization also involves the Indonesian Navy as strategic partners for technical, operational, and security aspects throughout preparation and execution phases.
With karst cliffs, natural waterfalls, and the Indian Ocean expanse as backdrop, Bali expands its tourism narrative from beaches and culture to the global extreme sports stage.
This opening series represents not just leaps from heights but Bali's giant leap in positioning itself as a global nature sports tourism hub.
