Indonesian national team player Nathan Tjoe-A-On recorded a special moment with Willem II. This Indonesian national team defender finally scored his first goal as his new club romped to a 7-0 victory over FC Dordrecht in the first round of the 2025/26 KNVB Cup early Friday morning WIB.
Playing at the Koning Willem II Stadium, the match between these two Dutch second-tier teams was one-sided. Tricolores, the nickname for Willem II, went wild from the opening minutes and were already 5-0 up within just the first half hour of the match.
Willem II's quick goals were scored by Samuel Bamba (5'), Devin Haen (14'), Justin Hoogma (17'), and Mounir El Allouchi (29'). Nathan then capped off the first-half party with a beautiful header in the 39th minute, converting a corner kick from Nick Doodeman.

Entering the second half, the team coached by Kristof Aelbrecht still didn't let up the pressure. Two additional goals from substitute Emilio Kehrer (82', 88') completed Willem II's dominant victory from start to finish.
This win felt even more special as it came against a team managed by Dirk Kuyt, the former legendary Liverpool and Netherlands national team striker who made 285 appearances for The Reds between 2006-2012.
A Redemptive Moment for Nathan
For Nathan Tjoe-A-On, this goal wasn't just another number on the scoresheet. It was an emotional and redemptive moment after a long wait of over three years without scoring at club level.
Nathan's last goal was recorded on September 10, 2022, while still playing for Excelsior Rotterdam against FC Emmen in the Eredivisie.
Since then, the defender, who now represents the Indonesian national team, has been better known for his composure and contributions at the back.
Now, this strike becomes the sixth goal of his professional career, five of which were born while playing for Excelsior.
But this time, his goal came at the perfect moment, becoming a symbol of perfect adaptation at his new club and proof of his increasing offensive contribution.
Important Capital for the Next Match
The massive victory over FC Dordrecht not only secured Willem II's place in the second round but also serves as crucial morale capital for the team.
Nathan now follows his compatriots in the Netherlands like Mauro Zijlstra (Volendam) and Justin Hubner (Fortuna Sittard) who have also secured their tickets to the next round.
Meanwhile, two other Indonesian national team players, Dean James (Go Ahead Eagles) and Miliano Jonathans (FC Utrecht), are already waiting in the second round after receiving the privilege of a direct entry thanks to their clubs' performances in European competition last season.
Progress of Naturalized Players
Nathan's goal is another positive note for players of Indonesian descent in Europe. With stable performances and now starting to look sharp, Nathan is showing he can add value in both phases of the game, defense and attack.
His consistency with Willem II is also good news for the Indonesian national team coach, who is preparing the squad for the continuation of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
For Nathan, that one header might seem simple. But behind it lies a powerful message: that hard work, patience, and an unyielding spirit ultimately bear sweet fruit.
