Borussia Monchengladbach advanced to the Round of 16 of the 2025/26 DFB Pokal after defeating Karlsruher SC with a convincing 3-1 scoreline in a match at Borussia Park early Wednesday morning WIB, October 29, 2025.

This match not only provided a goal fest for Die Fohlen but also served as proof of the strong performance of Indonesian national team defender Kevin Diks, who played the full 90 minutes.

Solid Performance in Defense

Kevin Diks was a crucial part of Gladbach's defensive trio alongside Nico Elvedi and Philipp Sander. Throughout the match, the Indonesian-descended player displayed composure and high discipline in guarding the back line.

According to Fotmob data, Diks recorded 69 touches, three clearances, and 95% passing accuracy, including eight successful long passes. These statistics confirm the importance of his role in distributing the ball from the back and maintaining game stability.

Gladbach Starts Strong

Gladbach played aggressively from the first minute. Just three minutes into the game, Shuto Machino opened the scoring for the hosts with a close-range strike after receiving a cross from Haris Tabakovic.

Despite continuous pressure until halftime, the 1-0 scoreline held. Entering the second half, Gerardo Seoane's side doubled their lead through Nico Elvedi's header in the 51st minute from a Kevin Stoger corner.

Karlsruher narrowed the deficit through Fabian Schleusener in the 59th minute, capitalizing on a rebound from Rafael Pinto Pedrosa's shot.

However, Gladbach secured the win with a third goal in the 89th minute. Haris Tabakovic scored on a swift counter-attack after receiving a through pass from Franck Honorat.

Diks, a Symbol of Resilience and Consistency

For Kevin Diks, this match confirmed that he is not merely a squad filler at Gladbach. He demonstrated consistent defensive ability and the capacity to build attacks from the back – qualities that have earned him increasing trust from Seoane in the defensive line.

With this victory, Monchengladbach officially progressed to the DFB Pokal Round of 16 and now awaits the draw for their next opponent, which will be announced on November 2.

With such a solid performance, Kevin Diks is not only keeping Gladbach's goal safe but also keeping Indonesian fans' hopes alive to see their star shine on the European stage.
