Persija Builds a Complete Structure for Shin Tae-yong, All Aspects of the Team Are Given Full Attention

Jakarta – Persija Jakarta has officially finalised its coaching staff structure ahead of the 2026/2027 season. Rather than only appointing Shin Tae-yong as head coach, the Macan Kemayoran have assembled a supporting team combining both South Korean and Indonesian staff.

Persija announced the full coaching line-up via the club's official website on Friday (7/8/2026). This structure has been prepared to support Shin Tae-yong in building a stronger, more competitive team for the upcoming season.

Shin Tae-yong was first appointed as Persija's head coach back in June 2026. The South Korean tactician has signed a three-year contract to lead the club.

This appointment forms part of Persija's ambition to improve on their previous season performance, where they finished in third place.

Now, this long-term project is being completed with a comprehensive supporting structure behind the head coach.

Four assistant coaches will work under Shin Tae-yong: Cho Byung-kuk, Choi In-cheul, Maman Abdurrahman, and Taji Prashetio.

Maman Abdurrahman is one of the most notable names in this line-up. The former Persija captain is returning to serve the club once again, this time in a coaching capacity.

Persija has stated that Maman's experience, leadership qualities, and deep understanding of the club's identity will be a vital asset to guide the players through the new season's competitions.

Maman's inclusion also provides local representation within a coaching setup otherwise led primarily by South Korean staff.

He is expected to act as a bridge, aligning Shin Tae-yong's coaching methods with the characteristics and culture of Indonesian football, particularly within the Persija environment.

Alongside Maman, Cho Byung-kuk has also been named as an assistant coach.

The former South Korean international has playing experience across multiple Asian competitions, including the K League, J.League, Chinese Super League and Thai League. He also represented South Korea at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.

Meanwhile, Yoo Jae-hoon has been entrusted as the club's goalkeeper coach.

This former South Korean goalkeeper has extensive experience working in Indonesian football, and previously won the league title with Persipura Jayapura.

Persija hopes that Yoo's track record and familiarity with Indonesian football will help develop and improve the standard of Persija's goalkeepers.

The club structure has also been strengthened with the appointment of Kim Dong-ki as Head of Scouting, who will oversee player monitoring and talent recruitment for the club.

For the analysis department, Kim Jong-jin and Muhammad Fayyadh will serve as match analysts. Meanwhile Huh Ji-sub and Hwang Ji-hwan will be responsible for the players' physical conditioning and fitness.

To support team communication, Jeongseok Seo has been appointed as the official team interpreter.

All of these staff members will work alongside Persija Team Manager Ardhi Tjahjoko to support all team requirements throughout the 2026/2027 season.

Persija President Mohamad Prapanca stated that finalising this full staff structure is a critical part of the club's efforts to build a new foundation.

"We believe every individual within this coaching team holds an equally important role in building Persija forward," Prapanca stated.

According to Prapanca, this combination of international experience, local understanding of Indonesian football, and the unique strengths of each staff member is expected to assist Shin Tae-yong in developing an increasingly competitive Persija side.

This structure also aligns with the long-term project that Persija has entrusted to Shin Tae-yong.

When Shin was first presented in June, Prapanca explained that the coach is not only tasked with chasing on-field success, but will also be involved in youth player development and club football infrastructure improvements over the duration of his contract.

As such, the 2026/2027 season does not only mark the start of a new head coach era for Persija. The club is also building a full support ecosystem covering coaching, scouting, performance analysis, fitness, goalkeeper development, and team communications.

Persija hopes that this collaboration between South Korean and Indonesian staff will accelerate the team building process, and assist Shin Tae-yong in delivering on Macan Kemayoran's ambitious targets.
