The Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) identifies the K-Pop concert trend in Indonesia as a major opportunity to strengthen the national tourism sector. Through collaboration with the Indonesian Music Promoters Association (APMI) and the Indonesian Travel Companies Association (ASITA), the Ministry is rolling out K-Pop concert themed tourism packages designed to attract more international visitors while extending tourist length of stay within Indonesia.
Ministry of Tourism Spokesperson Nia Niscaya stated that international concert events are no longer purely entertainment, but can develop into dedicated tourism attractions.
Nia has invited APMI and ASITA to collaborate on designing these tourism packages, integrating K-Pop concert attendance with visits to Indonesia's flagship tourist destinations.

The overwhelming enthusiasm of K-Pop fans in Indonesia creates a unique advantage. When world-famous K-Pop groups perform domestically, local fans do not need to travel overseas, ensuring all their related spending circulates within the national economy.
"K-Pop concerts hosted in Jakarta deliver substantial economic benefits, through the circulation of funds spent by thousands of attendees on concert tickets, hotel accommodation, food and beverages, transport and communications, plus souvenir and official merchandise purchases," Nia stated.
She explained that this economic activity boosts state revenue through multiple streams: entertainment tax, hotel and restaurant taxes, merchandise sales, and venue rental fees.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Tourism is opening opportunities for wider cooperation with various travel industry associations including ASITA, AITTA, ASTINDO, and IINTOA to develop fully integrated concert tourism packages.
"Through this collaboration, we aim for tourists to not only visit for the concert, but to extend their length of stay and increase their overall tourist spending, which will generate far broader economic multiplier effects," she added.
Indonesia holds a strategic position as the largest music concert market in the ASEAN region. The massive fanbase for top-tier K-Pop acts including BLACKPINK and BTS, both domestically and across neighbouring ASEAN nations, forms a critical foundation for developing concert-based tourism.
"To put this in context: Indonesia is the ASEAN region's largest market for the live concert industry, and maintains an enormous fanbase for international artists across every genre including K-Pop, jazz, rock, hip hop, and R&B," she concluded.
