Labuan Bajo has long been synonymous with pristine marine beauty, exotic islands, and the allure of Komodo National Park. Ongoing efforts to enrich visitor experiences are being implemented through the development of land-based attractions, designed to extend length of stay at this Super Priority Destination.

One of the latest initiatives is the Weekend at Parapuar (WAP) event, organised by the Labuan Bajo Flores Authority Implementation Agency (BPOLBF) in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism.

This activity is held under the Event Programme for Priority Tourism Destinations, forming part of the strategy to strengthen the appeal of land-based tourism in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.

BPOLBF Acting Chief Executive Officer Andhy MT Marpaung confirmed the event will be hosted at Natas Parapuar, Labuan Bajo, commencing at 16.00 WITA on Saturday 6 June.

Both local residents and visiting tourists will be able to enjoy a full lineup of art performances, cultural showcases, live music and creative activities.

"We are continuously developing Parapuar into a vibrant public space, where communities and visitors can experience Labuan Bajo's natural beauty alongside art, cultural and Creative Economy activities," he stated.

According to Andhy, the collaboration between BPOLBF and the Ministry of Tourism forms part of wider efforts to deliver more diverse, memorable travel experiences for all guests.

Beyond its dramatic natural panoramas, Parapuar is intended to grow into a dedicated cultural and creative economy hub that will expand the range of tourism offerings available in Labuan Bajo.

He explained this synergy via the Priority Tourism Destinations Event Programme represents a strategic step to build a sustainable event ecosystem within Indonesia's flagship national tourism zones.

The event will feature a performance by Justy Aldrin, a widely recognised recording artist from Eastern Indonesia. Additionally, Sanggar I Production will present authentic regional cultural performances to introduce the area's rich traditional heritage to tourists.

The atmosphere will be further enlivened by live music from Embun n Friend, alongside traditional games open for participation by visitors of all age groups.

Beyond providing public entertainment, this initiative carries a core strategic objective: to extend tourist length of stay in Labuan Bajo through the ongoing expansion of varied land-based tourism options.

Andhy noted that travellers visiting Labuan Bajo require more activity alternatives beyond marine excursions. Events such as Weekend at Parapuar have been developed as one solution to address this demand.

This initiative also creates formal opportunities for local artists, cultural practitioners and creative economy operators to showcase their work and products to a wider audience.

"We invite all local residents and tourists to come experience the sunset atmosphere at Natas Parapuar, which offers sweeping elevated hilltop views across the entire Labuan Bajo area," he added.

Parapuar's primary draw is its natural landscape, which provides unobstructed spectacular vantage points during golden hour. From this hilltop location, visitors can take in panoramic views of Labuan Bajo from a unique elevated perspective.

He further confirmed guests will not only enjoy the scheduled art and cultural performances, but also experience open-air recreation that blends natural scenery with hands-on creative activities.

General admission for access to the full event programme is set at IDR 15,000 per person by BPOLBF. Tickets are available for purchase via official online ticketing platforms.

Organisers will also issue special adjustment voucher codes for visitors who encounter price discrepancies on third party booking applications.

By delivering Weekend at Parapuar in conjunction with the Priority Tourism Destinations Event Programme, BPOLBF aims for this initiative to drive local economic growth while also strengthening promotion for Labuan Bajo Tourism.
