The atmosphere along Jalan Pemuda, Pancoran Mas District, was transformed into a space evoking the historic Dutch-Depok atmosphere of old during the 2026 Old Depok Heritage Festival. The Depok City Government expects this inaugural festival to become the starting point for a new tourist destination that can uplift local history while driving community economic activity.
The 2026 Old Depok Heritage Festival ran from 27 to 28 June 2026, as the first collaboration project between the Depok City Government and the Cornelis Chastelein Institute Foundation (YLCC). Visitors were presented with a variety of cultural performances, culinary offerings, and micro, small and medium enterprise products to help them reconnect with the long historical journey of Depok City.
Depok Mayor Supian Suri officially opened the festival on Saturday. He stated that hosting the Old Depok Heritage Festival marks the first step towards formally designating Jalan Pemuda and its surrounding area as an official heritage precinct within Depok City.

Through this festival, the Depok City Government seeks to create a public space that serves not only as a recreation location, but also as a historical education facility for the public. This concept is designed to attract visitors from across different regions to visit and understand Depok's unique cultural identity.
"We hope this activity can be held every year with continued improvements, so that all members of the community can feel its benefits," stated Supian Suri.
This aspiration aligns with the local administration's efforts to establish the festival as an annual official agenda, both to strengthen the local tourism sector and create new economic opportunities for local residents and business operators.
Ratu Ratna Damayanti, Chair of the 2026 Old Depok Heritage Festival Organising Committee, explained that visitors were treated to various activities with classic Dutch-Depok thematic styling. Core attractions during the festival included the Parade of the 12 Original Depok Clans, heritage fashion showcases, public bazaars, mural exhibitions, and colouring competitions.
Additionally, 60 MSME booths enlivened the event with assorted food and beverages, fashion goods, and handcrafted products. Selected items including leather bags and traditional confectionery were even imported directly from the Netherlands to reinforce the authentic historic atmosphere of the festival.
According to Ratu Ratna Damayanti, holding the Old Depok Heritage Festival carries special significance, as this event is being revived for the first time in three full centuries. The festival serves as a tangible collaboration between all segments of society to unlock Depok City's underutilised historical potential.
"This festival is being held for the first time in 300 years. It was born from the vision of the Depok Mayor, who demonstrated sensitivity, concern and strategic thinking to invite all community elements to collaborate and advance Depok using its existing native potential," she concluded.
