Morocco National Team advanced to the Round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup after defeating Haiti 4-2 in the final Group C fixture at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, United States on Thursday morning WIB. This victory did not come easily, as The Atlas Lions had to overcome fierce resistance from Haiti who took the lead twice during the match.

Achraf Hakimi, Ismael Saibari, Soufiane Rahimi, and Gessime Yassine were the key players behind this dramatic win.

With this result, Morocco finished level on seven points with Brazil, however the Selecao claimed top spot in Group C courtesy of a superior goal difference.

Meanwhile, Haiti are eliminated from the 2026 World Cup having failed to register a single point throughout the group stage.

Haiti took a shock early lead inside the opening 10 minutes. Jean-Kevin Duverne delivered a cross that was met with a clever backheel flick from Lenny Joseph. The ball deflected off Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou and crossed the line for an own goal, Putting Haiti 1-0 ahead.

This advantage lifted Haiti's confidence. They maintained disciplined defensive structure and launched sharp counter-attacks that consistently troubled Morocco's back line.

Trailing by one goal, Morocco pushed hard for an equaliser. The breakthrough came after Haiti keeper Johny Placide misjudged an incoming cross. The loose ball fell perfectly for Achraf Hakimi, who fired home to level the score at 1-1.

Just as Morocco began to find their match rhythm, Haiti struck again. In the 43rd minute, Wilson Isidor scored a spectacular goal with a thunderous strike from outside the penalty area, putting Haiti back ahead 2-1.

Morocco showed their resilience however, as Ismael Saibari found the net shortly after to level the scores once more at 2-2.

Entering the second half, Morocco dominated ball possession and applied sustained pressure on an increasingly fatigued Haiti defence.

Even so, Haiti continued to put up stubborn resistance, making it difficult for Morocco to create clear cut goalscoring chances.

Morocco's head coach made several attacking substitutions to increase forward threat. In the 78th minute, Soufiane Rahimi - who had only entered the pitch 8 minutes prior - put Morocco into the lead for the first time.

Rahimi met Chadi Riad's cross with a well struck shot that Johny Placide could not keep out. This goal proved to be the match turning point. Haiti pushed forward desperately to salvage a result, but conceded another goal right at the end of normal time.

One minute before full time, Gessime Yassine found himself completely unmarked after receiving a layoff pass from Rahimi. He calmly slotted the ball into the unguarded net to extend the lead to 4-2.

VAR conducted a lengthy review of this goal before the referee officially confirmed it would stand.

This victory officially confirms Morocco's progression to the 2026 World Cup Round of 32.
