Indonesian mixed doubles pair Adnan Maulana/Indah Cahya Sari Jamil have secured their spot in the second round of Indonesia Open 2026. Adnan/Indah successfully eliminated French representatives Julian Maio/Lea Palermo at this BWF World Tour Super 1000 tournament.

This victory, earned at Istora Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan, Jakarta, did not come easily. Adnan/Indah had to fight hard across three full games before closing the match with final scores 14-21, 21-19, 21-11.

Right from the opening rally, the French pair played with full confidence and successfully controlled the match tempo. Julian Maio/Lea Palermo built an early 7-3 lead in the first game.

Although Adnan/Indah attempted to close the deficit, the opposing pair maintained their momentum and held a narrow 11-10 advantage at the mid-game interval.

After the break, the consistent pressure from the French side remained difficult to counter. Maio/Palermo closed out the opening game with a 21-14 scoreline.

The dynamic shifted completely in the second game. The Indonesian pair finally found their optimal rhythm. Adnan/Indah began committing to aggressive attacks and managed to hold a lead from the early stages of the game.

The disciplined, focused play from the Indonesian national pair paid off as they entered the mid-game interval with an 11-8 advantage.

From that point, the game remained tightly contested right until the final point. Adnan/Indah held their concentration to claim a dramatic 21-19 win, forcing the match into a deciding third game.

The momentum from their second game victory became a critical foundation for the Indonesian pair. In the final game, Adnan/Indah applied relentless pressure and gave their opponents almost no space to build their own play.

This aggressive game plan delivered clear results. They led the scoring from the very first point. An 11-7 lead at the mid-game interval signaled that the Indonesian pair had taken full control of the match.

After the break, Adnan/Indah's dominance only grew. Well constructed attacking combinations converted consistently into points. The match was finally closed out with a convincing 21-11 victory, officially confirming their place in the second round.

In the next stage, Adnan/Indah will face off against top China pair Feng Yanzhe/Huang Dongping, one of the seeded title favourites for this tournament.

Indah confirmed that both she and Adnan intend to approach the upcoming match calmly, and focus on performing to their full ability against the higher ranked opponents.

"Personally I will just play relaxed, we will just focus on bringing out our own standard of Badminton. As long as we put in full effort, we can give our best performance," Indah stated after the match, when asked about preparations for the second round.

This win over the French pair marks a strong positive start for Adnan/Indah at Indonesia Open 2026. They will carry this new confidence into the much tougher challenge that awaits them in the next round.
