Indonesia still has a representative in the men's doubles sector of the Denmark Open 2025. The pair Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri became the last hope after securing their semifinal ticket through a convincing straight-game victory (21-8, 21-15) over England's Ben Lane/Sean Vendy in Friday night's quarter-final at Jysnke Arena (Western Indonesian Time).

Meanwhile, Indonesia's other representatives, Muhammad Rian Ardianto/Rahmat Hidayat, were eliminated after being stopped by world-class Indian doubles Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty.

This result makes Fajar/Fikri not only Indonesia's sole remaining men's doubles contenders but also a symbol of hope to bring home the title from this Super 1000 tournament.

Front Court Initiative and Maintaining Point Gap

Fajar revealed their success stemmed not just from attacking but from controlling the game early.

"The key was front court play. Both me and Fikri took initiative at the net to drop shots first, creating comfortable attack opportunities while constantly maintaining the point gap," Fajar stated as quoted by PBSI.

Despite trailing in the second game, they avoided panic.

"Though we fell behind in the second game, after the interval we refocused on scoring," he added.

Fajar emphasized that keeping the point gap boosted their confidence.

"The point cushion made us more comfortable while keeping opponents pressured. It would've been dangerous if the English pair played freely," he explained.

Learning from Previous Match

Unlike their quarter-final performance, Fikri admitted playing poorly in the round of 16. Evaluation became key to their revival.

"Learning from last night's match where I performed badly, I was determined to play much better. Alhamdulillah, I managed to do it and we won," Fikri revealed.

Consistent performances in recent tournaments also motivated Fajar.

Fajar added that their consistent results in recent tournaments motivated him to perform even better at Denmark Open 2025.

Tough Challenge Ahead

In Saturday's semifinal, Fajar/Fikri will face formidable Chinese opponents Liang Weng Keng/Wang Chang.

Despite their 2-0 head-to-head advantage, Fikri refuses complacency.

"Tomorrow we face Liang Weng Keng/Wang Chang (China). We mustn't be arrogant despite our 2-0 record. Instead, we must stay cautious, remain court-focused, and avoid overthinking," concluded Fikri.
