Indonesian mixed doubles pair Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu reaffirmed their status as one of the most progressive duos on the global badminton tour. They officially became Indonesia's fifth finalist at the Australia Open 2025 after defeating Thailand's Ruttanapak Oupthong/Jhenicha Sudjaipraparat 19-21, 21-13, 21-14 in Saturday's semifinal held at Quaycentre, Sydney on November 22, 2025.

Three-Game Battle: From Catch-Up to Solid Comeback
Jafar/Felisha's match unfolded dynamically. They initially led the first game after recovering from a 2-4 deficit and held a four-point advantage at the interval. However, tension escalated during critical points as the Thai pair disrupted their focus to seize the opening game.
This miscalculation became a quick lesson. Entering the second game, Jafar/Felisha refined their attack patterns and tempo. After trailing at the interval, they scored six consecutive points from 12-12, completely controlling the rhythm to force a decider.
In the final game, intensity peaked with rallies, net control, and mid-court exchanges proving decisive. Jafar/Felisha maintained a narrow lead before closing the match convincingly.
"We were ahead in the first game but rushed critical points and got overtaken. In the second and third games, we reset our approach - that's what we executed," Jafar stated.
Perfect Revenge and World Tour Finals Ticket
This win not only secured their finals spot but also delivered sweet revenge after their loss to the same Thai pair at the 2024 Hylo Open. Moreover, this semifinal result guarantees Jafar/Felisha qualification for December's BWF World Tour Finals 2025 in Hangzhou, China.
"We're immensely grateful to God for reaching the World Tour Finals. Finally qualifying feels like a huge relief. Avenging our loss against the Thais adds to the joy," expressed Felisha.
This achievement underscores Jafar/Felisha's consistency throughout 2025. Rapidly rising since early 2024 per BWF rankings and statistics, the pair continues reaching finals consecutively, cementing their status among the world's top 10 mixed doubles contenders.
Momentum Heading into Final
Ahead of the championship match, Jafar/Felisha vowed to play freely while maintaining their aggressive mentality. With boosted confidence after securing their World Tour Finals ticket, their finals performance is predicted to showcase greater maturity.
"We'll play more liberated in the final while keeping our fighting spirit and focus on claiming the title," Jafar affirmed.
