The cash prize pool for the FIFA World Cup 2026 is the largest in the history of global international Football tournaments. This competition, set to be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico, will not only feature elite level competition between the world's top International Football national teams, but also delivers unprecedented financial rewards.
According to official FIFA publications, the total prize fund allocated across all participating nations reaches 655 million US Dollars, equivalent to approximately 11.66 trillion Indonesian Rupiah. This figure marks a 50% increase from the previous World Cup edition, and reinforces FIFA's goal to establish the 2026 tournament as the most ambitious staging of the competition in history.
This base prize sum does not include an additional dedicated 72 million US Dollar (around 1.3 trillion Rupiah) budget allocated by FIFA to cover pre-tournament preparation costs for every participating national squad.

The most notable increase applies to the payout for the 2026 World Cup Champions. Alongside lifting the tournament trophy, the winning nation will receive 50 million US Dollars or approximately 890 billion Rupiah, an amount substantially higher than the prize awarded to the previous World Cup title holder.
For reference, the Argentina National Team received 42 million US Dollars for winning the 2022 Qatar World Cup. Prior to that, France secured 38 million US Dollars as 2018 champions, while Germany received 35 million US Dollars following their victory at the 2014 Brazil tournament.
Increased prize money applies to all finishing positions, not just the Champion. The 2026 World Cup runner-up will be awarded 33 million US Dollars (approx. 587 billion Rupiah). Third placed teams will receive 29 million US Dollars, with fourth place receiving 27 million US Dollars.
FIFA has confirmed guaranteed financial support for all participants from before the tournament begins. Every qualified nation will receive 1.5 million US Dollars in advance preparation funding prior to the opening match.
Under this structure, every participating football federation is guaranteed a minimum total payout of at least 10.5 million US Dollars, equivalent to approximately 187 billion Rupiah. Teams eliminated in the final group stage (finishing 33rd to 48th overall) will each receive 9 million US Dollars.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino described the expanded prize fund as a major milestone to support and strengthen the global football ecosystem.
"The 2026 World Cup also represents a breakthrough in how this tournament delivers financial benefit back to the worldwide football community," stated Gianni Infantino.
The new expanded 48-nation tournament format ensures prize money is distributed across far more countries, creating meaningful economic opportunity for smaller and non-traditional football nations that qualify for the world's biggest sporting stage.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place between 11 June and 19 July 2026 across the three host nations. This tournament is projected to break all previous attendance records, and is on track to become the highest value World Cup ever organised.
