Indonesia's young men's doubles pair, Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin has been officially ruled out of the 2026 Singapore Open. Raymond developed issues with his left knee shortly before the team's scheduled departure to Singapore. This withdrawal was made as a preventive step to avoid aggravating the injury, amid the highly packed BWF tournament calendar for this season.
Indonesian Men's Doubles coach Antonius Budi Ariantho confirmed that Raymond had been experiencing discomfort for the past week, even after receiving therapy and adjusted training routines.
"Over the last week Raymond has complained of uncomfortable sensations at the back of his left knee. He already went through therapy and had his training schedule modified, but during the final medical assessment prior to departure he still reported persistent discomfort," stated Antonius in an official written release from PP PBSI.

According to the coach, it would have technically been possible to force Raymond to compete, however the high risk of underperforming became the core consideration for the withdrawal decision.
"Instead of forcing him to travel, I made the call to pull Raymond/Joaquin out of Singapore Open 2026. He could still technically play, but he will definitely not perform at full capacity. Certain movements remain restricted, there is still lingering obstruction in his knee," he explained.
With this young pair absent, Indonesia's men's doubles challenge at Singapore Open 2026 will now rest on the squad's two senior pairs: Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani. The tournament will run at the Singapore Indoor Stadium from 26 to 31 May.
Antonius stated he expects Raymond to make a full recovery and return to competition for the upcoming tournament circuit, including Indonesia Open 2026 which is scheduled for the following week.
"Hopefully with the available recovery window, his rehabilitation and preparation will be in good enough shape for the Indonesia Open," he added.
Beyond the men's doubles division, Indonesia will still field a full contingent of athletes at Singapore Open 2026. This includes Jonatan Christie and Alwi Farhan in men's singles, Putri Kusuma Wardani in Women's Singles, along with multiple competing pairs in both Women's Doubles and mixed doubles.
