Trust H. J. Lin, Deputy Representative of the Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) for Indonesia, stated that Indonesia represents a high-potential market for the development of Taiwan's rural tourism sector.
According to Lin, global tourism trends are now shifting towards travel experiences that prioritise connection with nature and local cultural immersion.
"We can see travel trends today are moving towards slow living, deep travel, and experiences that bring people closer to nature. Taiwan is offering exactly this type of experience through our leisure farm framework," he explained.
Beyond its well-known modern urban destinations, Taiwan also offers immersive stays in rural villages, tea plantations, flower gardens, and educational tourist farms – all operated under sustainability principles.
Trust Lin confirmed that interest in Taiwanese agritourism among Indonesian Travellers has grown significantly in recent years.
Last year, approximately 40,000 Indonesian visitors were recorded travelling to Taiwan's rural tourism zones.
"We recorded around 40,000 tourists visiting Taiwan's agritourism sites last year. For this year, we are targeting to double this figure, reaching between 80,000 to 90,000 visitors," he added.
Lin noted that agritourism acts as an effective medium to introduce Taiwan's local culture to Indonesian guests.
"When visiting these sites, travellers will not only enjoy natural scenery, they will also get to learn and experience Taiwan's local culture firsthand," he said.
This exhibition is organised by the Rural Development and Soil & Water Conservation Agency of Taiwan's Ministry of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Taiwan Leisure Farm Development Association.
Seven leading premium Signature Tourism plantations from Taiwan are featured at the event.
Additionally, 3 national Airlines and 10 Indonesian travel agencies are presenting more than 30 themed travel packages to Taiwan at the fair.
The exhibition area is divided into four main zones: Sustainable Tourism, fruit picking experiences, floral tourism, and Taiwanese tea tourism.
Visitors can gain an in-depth understanding of the modern rural tourism concept currently growing in popularity across Taiwan.
Alongside exploring the exhibition, attendees are invited to join interactive activities including tea aroma pillow crafting, floral scented candle making, traditional Taiwanese art workshops, and classic Taiwanese traditional games.
Trust Lin also confirmed that Taiwan is continuously expanding Muslim-friendly amenities to ensure comfort for Indonesian visitors.
"We understand the majority of Indonesia's population is Muslim. For this reason, all stakeholders across Taiwan's tourism industry are continuously strengthening Muslim-friendly services, from certified halal dining options to accommodation facilities," he concluded.
