Arsenal secured a vital victory as they hosted Burnley on matchweek 37 of the English League 2025/26 season at Emirates Stadium, early WIB hours of Tuesday, 19 May 2026. The Gunners claimed a narrow 1-0 win courtesy of Kai Havertz's lone goal.

This result has further cemented Arsenal at the top of the provisional English League Standings. Mikel Arteta's squad now holds a five-point lead over Manchester City, who still have two remaining fixtures to play.

Despite leading the table, Arsenal's title chances are not yet fully guaranteed. If Manchester City can win all of their remaining matches, the title race will definitely go down to the very final week of the season.

For their upcoming closing match, Arsenal must secure a win when they face Crystal Palace in order to keep their hopes of lifting the English League trophy alive.

Meanwhile, this defeat has no further impact on Burnley's position. The club has already been officially relegated from the Premier League and remains stuck in 19th place with 21 total points.

Playing in front of their home supporters, Arsenal immediately played with aggressive intent right from the first minute. Their dominant ball possession left Burnley struggling to escape the constant pressure.

The first scoring chance came in the 13th minute through Kai Havertz. Not long after, Leandro Trossard almost opened the scoring with a long-range shot, only for the ball to hit the goalpost.

Bukayo Saka also received a golden opportunity in the 34th minute. However, his final attempt was successfully dealt with by Burnley's defensive line.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 36th minute. Kai Havertz successfully headed home from a corner kick to put Arsenal 1-0 ahead heading into half time.

Entering the second half, Burnley attempted to fight back with quick counter-attacks. A midfield error was nearly exploited by Jaidon Anthony to create a dangerous chance.

However, Anthony's shot flew high over David Raya's goal crossbar.

Arsenal almost doubled their lead in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, the chance once again failed to produce a goal as the ball struck the crossbar.

As the match neared its end, Leandro Trossard also failed to capitalise on a chance from another corner situation, with his volleyed effort drifting wide of the target.

The 1-0 scoreline for Arsenal remained unchanged right until the full time whistle was blown.
