AS Roma and Como 1907 have kept their hopes of playing in next season's Champions League alive, after both clubs secured critical victories on Matchweek 37 of the 2025/26 Serie A. At the same time, Juventus' home defeat against Fiorentina has dramatically raised tensions in the top-four race ahead of the final round of the campaign.

Roma defeated local rivals Lazio 2-0 in the Derby della Capitale at the Stadio Olimpico. Gianluca Mancini emerged as the hero for the Giallorossi, netting both goals to seal the capital side's dominance over their cross-city opponents.

Gian Piero Gasperini's side created threats through Wesley Franca and Paulo Dybala, while the visiting Lazio side responded with attacking efforts from Matteo Cancellieri and Boulaye Dia.

Roma's sustained pressure finally broke through in the 40th minute. Gianluca Mancini converted Niccolo Pisilli's corner kick with a tight close-range header, putting Roma 1-0 ahead heading into the half-time interval.

After the restart, Lazio carved out chances through Nuno Tavares and Cancellieri. However, Roma Goalkeeper Mile Svilar produced saves to deny both attempts, along with a series of other dangerous scoring opportunities for Lazio.

Mancini proved the difference once again in the 66th minute. The Italy National Team defender scored his second goal of the match with another headed finish, this time meeting Paulo Dybala's corner delivery to extend Roma's lead to 2-0.

Tensions boiled over later in the half when Wesley Franca and Nicolo Rovella became involved in a physical altercation on the centre of the pitch. The referee issued straight red cards to both players without hesitation.

Lazio failed to pull a goal back before the full-time whistle. This victory puts Roma firmly back in the race for a Champions League qualification spot for next season.

Como Also Hold On To Champions League Hopes

Alongside Roma, Como 1907 also kept their dream of competing in Europe's elite club competition alive with a 1-0 home victory against Parma at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

Cesc Fabregas' side struggled to break down Parma's organised defence throughout the entire first half. Como's best opening chance fell to Anastasios Douvikas, whose struck effort bounced off the goal frame.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 58th minute. Alberto Moreno scored the winning goal for Como with a powerful driven shot from inside the penalty area, after receiving an attacking pass from the left flank.

Parma did briefly find an equaliser via a Mateo Pellegrino header, but the goal was immediately disallowed by VAR for an offside infringement.

Como successfully defended their narrow lead until the final whistle. This additional three points keeps the Indonesian-owned club in contention to finish inside Serie A's top four positions this season.

Following the Matchweek 37 results, Roma have climbed into 4th place with 70 points, while Como sit just behind in 5th position on 68 points. Both sides have overtaken Juventus, who slipped up on their home ground this round.

The Champions League qualification race is confirmed to go right down to the final matchday of the 2025/26 Serie A season. Como must win their final fixture, while also relying on either AC Milan or Roma failing to collect points on the last day.
