Amid ambitions to restore dominance in World Football, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has officially extended head coach Carlo Ancelotti's contract through the 2030 World Cup. This decision sends a clear strong signal that the federation places full trust in the long-term project the Italian coach is building with the Selecao.
After a first year focused on evaluation and transition, Brazil has chosen to prioritise stability rather than falling back into the repeated cycle of coaching changes that has plagued the side.
"The continuation of Ancelotti's tenure leading Brazil's national team - the most successful squad in the history of World Football - does not only reflect CBF's support for the work the coach has delivered. This also demonstrates the trust he has earned from the playing squad and Brazilian supporters alike, ever since he took the role at the end of May 2025," read the official CBF statement published on the confederation's website on Thursday 14 May.

When Ancelotti was first appointed in May 2025, the appointment was widely labelled a bold gamble. Brazil had selected a foreign coach with elite European pedigree to lead the world's most iconic national football programme, an extremely uncommon move throughout the Samba Nation's football history.
Gradually however, the 66-year-old coach has built an emotional bond with Brazilian football. This connection extends far beyond the dressing room, as he has also adapted to the local culture and learned to manage the enormous pressure that always accompanies this role.
"I came to Brazil one year ago. From the very first minute I arrived, I understood exactly what football means to this country," Ancelotti said.
Over his first year in charge, Ancelotti has been widely credited with strengthening the national team's core foundations. He has not prioritised only Match Results, but has also worked alongside different CBF departments to build organisational stability and define a clear playing identity for the side.
This approach is considered critical for Brazil, which has suffered inconsistent international performances over recent years. Ancelotti's arrival has brought decades of top-tier European football experience into Brazil's national football structure.
The former Real Madrid head coach also confirmed he has received overwhelming public support from the very first day he arrived in the country.
"I want to thank the CBF for this trust. Thank you Brazil, for the warm welcome and all the affection you have given me," he stated.
CBF President Samir Xaud described the Contract Extension as a key milestone in the large-scale transformation being implemented for Brazilian football.
The federation is working to ensure the Selecao remains competitive long-term, rather than only preparing for single standalone tournaments.
"Today is a historic day for the CBF and for all of Brazilian football. The Contract Extension for Carlo Ancelotti is another step forward in our commitment to build a solid, modern and competitive structure for this five-time world champion national team," Samir Xaud announced.
The CBF confirmed the national Football Development project will not be limited only to the senior men's squad. The confederation will continue strengthening domestic league competitions, youth national team development pathways, and formal partnerships with clubs and regional football associations across all of Brazil.
Statistically, Ancelotti's first year with Brazil delivered steady results. Across 10 official matches, the Selecao recorded five wins, two draws and three defeats.
Under his guidance, Brazil scored 18 goals while conceding only 8. While the side has not yet returned to full dominant form, this track record was deemed sufficiently promising to continue the project through to 2030.
Ancelotti's immediate primary focus is now fixed on the 2026 World Cup. Brazil have been drawn into Group C alongside Morocco, Haiti and Scotland.
