Brazil delivered a promising performance ahead of 2026 World Cup after defeating Panama with a dominant 6-2 scoreline in an international friendly match held at Maracanã Stadium, Rio de Janeiro, early morning WIB on Monday, 1 June 2026.
The squad managed by Carlo Ancelotti controlled the entire match, even as the head coach ran tactical experiments by fielding two completely different lineups for each half. Brazil held a 2-1 lead at halftime before adding four more goals after the break.
An opening goal arrived within the very first minute of play. Vinicius Junior capitalised on an intercepted pass from his teammate, then unleashed a long-range shot that the Panama Goalkeeper failed to react to, putting Brazil 1-0 up.

Panama responded immediately. The away side equalised from a dead ball situation that deflected off Matheus Cunha standing in the defensive wall. This change of ball trajectory left Alisson unable to make the save, levelling the score at 1-1.
After conceding, Brazil increased their attacking pressure. However, their second goal only arrived in the 39th minute, when Casemiro headed home a crossed delivery from Vinicius Junior.
This goal underwent VAR review as Casemiro was judged to be marginally on the offside line. After approximately three minutes of waiting, the referee confirmed the goal, and Brazil closed the first half with a 2-1 advantage.
Upon entering the second half, Carlo Ancelotti made a drastic squad change, substituting 10 players at once. Only Leo Pereira remained on the pitch from the original starting lineup.
This overhaul actually made Brazil play even more aggressively. The third goal came in the 53rd minute through Rayan, who exploited a critical error from Panama goalkeeper Orlando Mosquera.
Mosquera mishandled the ball while attempting to build an attack from the backline. Rayan seized this mistake immediately, firing a long distance shot straight into the unguarded goal.
Brazil extended their lead further when Lucas Paquetá scored in the 63rd minute. Shortly afterwards, Igor Thiago converted a penalty kick to bring the score to 5-1.
The Samba Team's goal rush continued in the 81st minute, as Danilo Oliveira added his name to the scoresheet to stretch the advantage to 6-1.
Panama pulled one consolation goal back three minutes later via a long range strike from Carlos Harvey. This goal did not alter the outcome of the match, which finished with a 6-2 victory for Brazil.
This result provides positive preparation for Brazil ahead of their final warm-up match against Egypt on 7 June. Meanwhile, Panama will first face the Dominican Republic on 4 June.
For the final tournament of the 2026 World Cup, Brazil are drawn in Group C alongside Morocco, Haiti and Scotland. Panama will compete in Group L against England, Croatia and Ghana.
