On the coast of Banten, you can now experience the atmosphere of Mongolia without having to travel long distances. Within the Tanjung Lesung Tourism zone, this nomadic Cultural Experience is presented through the Mongolian Culture Center, creating a shared space for exchange between Indonesian Culture and Mongolian heritage.

This concept is designed to immerse visitors into the traditional Lifestyle of the nomadic peoples renowned since the Mongol Empire era. Every element from architecture to activities is crafted to deliver an authentic Mongolian atmosphere right here in Indonesia.

"I hope people will come visit Tanjung Lesung, soak in the atmosphere, and experience firsthand the unique way of life of Mongolian Culture without needing to travel overseas," stated Setyono Djuandi Darmono, Founder of PT Jababeka Tbk and Mongolia's Cultural Envoy in Indonesia, in an official release.

Inside the roughly one-hectare site, visitors may enter the Ger: the traditional circular Mongolian tent that stands as the iconic symbol of nomadic life. Its interior is adorned with ethnic ornaments, warm earthy tones, and signature traditional carvings, bringing the spirit of the Central Asian steppe to Java's southern coastline.

This is far more than just a static cultural exhibition. All experiences here are interactive: visitors may dress in full traditional Mongolian attire, ranging from warrior garb to imperial emperor and queen robes, alongside a replica royal throne that serves as the centerpiece visual attraction.

On the opposite side of the compound, an archery range invites visitors to practice the combat skill that formed the core military strength of historical Mongol expansion forces. This activity creates a tangible bridge between historical heritage and modern recreational tourism.

Beyond Cultural Tourism offerings, Tanjung Lesung also features varied natural landscapes plus activities including water sports, ATV trail rides, and light scenic flights that provide aerial panoramic views of Mount Krakatau.

Travel access to the area has been greatly improved with the opening of Section 1 of the Serang-Panimbang Toll Road, reducing travel time from Jakarta to approximately 2.5 to 3 hours.

"Before we realise it, 2026 will mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Republic of Indonesia. We hope this positive partnership will continue to grow strong, not only through cultural collaboration but also Tourism and all other forms of mutual cooperation," remarked D. Enkhtaivan.

Through the Mongolian Culture Center, Tanjung Lesung has evolved beyond just a Tourist Destination — it has become a living demonstration of how culture can cross geographical boundaries, and be nurtured and celebrated far from its original homeland.
