Jakarta Has a New Icon? Enthusiastic Crowds Pack First CFD at Rasuna Said

Jakarta is introducing a new vibe for residents and Weekend activity enthusiasts. This time, the Rasuna Said Street area in South Jakarta officially becomes the new location for Car-Free Day (CFD), offering a fresh perspective to experience the capital through a more modern lens.

This initiative is part of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's efforts to showcase urban transformation in an area historically synonymous with traffic jams and abandoned projects. Now, Rasuna Said is gradually evolving into a pedestrian-friendly public space for cyclists and sports communities.

DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that launching CFD here isn't just about creating new Sports routes but symbolizes Jakarta's changing face.

"Why Rasuna Said? We want to show the public that Jakarta is undergoing revitalization," said Pramono in Jakarta on Sunday, May 10, 2026.

According to Pramono, the area once dominated by abandoned monorail pillars now appears more organized after demolition. This transformation aims to create a new capital icon while expanding community interaction spaces.

Though revitalization continues, public enthusiasm remains high. Therefore, the DKI Provincial Government launched CFD at Rasuna Said alongside other public activities.

"We'll fully implement this starting June 1. Why? Because of overwhelming public demand – I was genuinely surprised," he added.

The morning atmosphere at Rasuna Said felt unusually vibrant. Thousands flocked to the streets for leisurely walks, Jogging, cycling, or simply enjoying pollution-free air amidst Jakarta's bustle.

This area offers a new CFD experience beyond the HI Roundabout. With its backdrop of skyscrapers and longer routes, Rasuna Said is emerging as a new Favorite Destination for weekend activities.

High public enthusiasm was evident from the first day, with residents embracing the atmosphere despite ongoing construction at certain points.

Resident Laila mentioned purposely visiting with family and friends to experience Rasuna Said's new CFD ambiance.

She described the area as offering a distinct experience compared to other CFD locations, particularly due to its stronger modern urban vibe.

With CFD at Rasuna Said, Jakarta not only provides new recreational spaces but demonstrates how urban areas can transform into comfortable community gathering spots.
