Persib Bandung failed to maximize the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the Standings of the BRI Super League 2025/2026 after being held to a goalless draw by Arema FC in the 29th week at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium. The brilliant performance of Arema's Goalkeeper Lucas Frigeri frustrated Persib's attacking line.

This result intensifies the title race. The additional point doesn't change Persib's position at the top of the Standings with 66 points. However, Maung Bandung's lead is now just three points over second-place Borneo FC, who have one game in hand.

Borneo will host Semen Padang on Saturday night. A win would level their points with Persib.

Playing in front of their home supporters, Persib took attacking initiative from the first minute. The team coached by Bojan Hodak played aggressively with high pressing to pressure Arema FC's defense.

The first chance came in the 3rd minute through a slick combination between Uilliam Barros and Andrew Jung. Though they broke through the defense, their attempt was saved by Arema keeper Lucas Frigeri.

Persib created another opportunity in the 11th minute. Marc Klok took a shot from inside the penalty box, but the ball sailed over the crossbar.

The home team's dominance continued into the middle of the first half. Persib maintained ball possession and bombarded Arema's defense.

The best chance of the first half came in the 35th minute. Berguinho's powerful shot from outside the box forced Frigeri into a spectacular save, but Uilliam Barros failed to capitalize on the rebound.

Entering the second half, the match followed a similar pattern. Persib kept pressing while Arema focused on maintaining defensive depth.

Arema's compact defense made it difficult for Persib to create clear chances. Numerous crosses and wing attacks were broken up before threatening the opponent's goal.

Drama unfolded during Injury time. In the 90+6th minute, Julio Cesar unleashed a dangerous header but was denied again by Frigeri's extraordinary reflexes.

The 0-0 scoreline remained until the final whistle. Persib had to settle for a point, while Arema took home a valuable point from Bandung.

This failure to secure three points serves as a serious warning for Persib. With five matches remaining for Persib in the competition, Borneo FC is ideally positioned to maintain pressure and seize opportunities to claim the top spot.
