Jakarta - The Directorate General of Immigration is now providing enhanced convenience for international athletes competing in Indonesia. Through the Sport Visa, the government is committed to simplifying bureaucracy to support the advancement of the national Sports Ecosystem and Sportainment industry.

Key points of the new policy:

1. Synergy and Administrative Ease
Immigration Directorate General is closely collaborating with the Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi) to monitor and educate Foreign Players, especially those competing in the Indonesia Basketball League (IBL). A special cross-directorate team has been formed to handle athlete administration and oversight while maintaining security protocols.

2. Sport Visa Types and Requirements
Immigration offers several sport-specific visa categories accessible via evisa.imigrasi.go.id:

  • C8A Index: For athletes.
  • C8B Index: For officials or support staff.
  • D8 Index: Multiple-entry visa for frequent travelers.

Key Requirements: Passport, recent photo, invitation/guarantee letter from organizers, and bank statement.

3. Fast Track Facilities
To prevent administrative fatigue from affecting athlete performance, premium airport services include:

  • Dedicated Check-in Counters: Bypass general passenger queues.
  • Autogate Technology: Automated arrival/departure processing.
  • Collective Services: Bulk visa applications for large-scale events.

Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko stated (ANTARA, 14/4/2026) these facilities prepare for upcoming major events like FIBA U-17 Asia Cup and FIBA U-19 World Cup.

Previously, Immigration successfully facilitated prestigious events including MotoGP Mandalika, Formula E, and U-17 World Cup. These measures aim to boost Indonesia's global image and national economy through Sports.
