Amid the dynamic landscape of Asian Tourism, one Indonesian city has again captured attention. Bandung is not only known for its classic charm but also for its rapid tourism growth. The Paris van Java secured a spot among Asia's top five destinations with the highest growth.
This list was released by Agoda in February 2026, with Bandung ranking third. This achievement confirms Bandung's transformation into a dynamic destination that successfully blends Cultural Heritage with modern Tourism Trends.
Bandung's tourism growth is considered rapid. Key indicators include increased accommodation capacity, expansion of Tourist Destinations (especially man-made ones), rising tourist numbers over the past year, and economic growth driven by tourism.

As reported by VnExpress, Bandung offers cool climate, beautiful Dutch colonial architecture, vibrant fashion outlets with factory stores, diverse culinary scenes, and serves as a gateway to stunning natural attractions like Tangkuban Perahu and Kawah Putih.
Beyond aesthetics, Bandung also functions as a regional shopping hub.
Its affordable textile and fashion products attract tourists from neighboring countries, particularly Malaysia and Singapore, creating economic activity that pulses through every corner of the city.
Data from Bandung's Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reinforces this narrative. Bandung recorded 24.25 million tourist visits in 2025, while Bandung Regency saw 14.24 million visits.
Bandung Tourism in 2025 showed a significant surge with a 23.18 percent increase compared to 2024.
Regionally, Bandung stands alongside other rising destinations. First place went to Sa Pa (Vietnam), followed by Okayama (Japan).
Two other Japanese cities, Matsuyama and Takamatsu, completed the list in fourth and fifth positions.
"Interestingly, these destinations have become top choices for travelers seeking authenticity and immersive Cultural Experiences.
Secondary destinations are increasingly attracting tourist interest, signaling a shift in the 2026 tourism landscape," stated Agoda's Regional Director for North Asia, Jay Lee.
What's happening in Bandung today isn't merely numerical growth, but an identity transformation. From a quiet colonial town to a center of Lifestyle, culinary delights, and nature exploration.
Bandung has firmly established itself as a crucial node in Asia's continuously evolving tourism map.
