"Let us let the Garuda fly high together with a spirit of unity and remain enthusiastic," continued the Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper.
The PSSI Awards 2026 winners were determined through a voting process, both online and offline, which took place from January to March. A total of 790,000 votes were recorded during that period.
Paes revealed that this achievement is the result of the hard work he has put in. However, he also emphasized that this success cannot be separated from the team's contribution.
"I think this is proof of my hard work, but yes, it's always about the team's hard work. So let's use this as inspiration to win more trophies as a team," said Paes.
Although he succeeded in surpassing his competitors, Paes stressed the importance of maintaining togetherness and setting aside personal egos within the team.
"This isn't about ego. It's about the team process. I enjoy working with Emil, working with Nadeo, Cahya (Supriadi), and Ernando. Everyone who works with us, and it's about the crest on the chest and the Garuda," he concluded.
