Jakarta isn't just about skyscrapers and legendary traffic jams. Behind the hustle and bustle, the capital holds many stories you can explore, now more comprehensively than ever.
In 2025, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government officially designated 16 new objects as Cultural Heritage. This addition isn't merely a formality but opens more destination options for those wanting to experience Jakarta's historical side in a closer, more authentic way.
This designation was made by DKI Jakarta Provincial Government through the Cultural Office after review by the Cultural Heritage Expert Team (TACB). Each object was assessed for historical value, educational significance, and contribution to the city's identity.

Head of DKI Jakarta Cultural Office, Mochamad Miftahulloh Tamary, emphasized this step's importance in preserving Jakarta's character amid modernization.
"This designation reflects the regional government's ongoing commitment to protect, develop, and utilize Cultural Heritage as both identity and vital regional assets," he stated.
With these additions, Jakarta now has approximately 322 Cultural Heritage sites, ranging from iconic buildings and historic structures to objects with high symbolic value.
For Travelers, this means more spots to explore—from Religious Tourism and educational sites to historical city walks.
Interestingly, locations like Sarinah Building and State Palace aren't unfamiliar names, but their new status cements their recognition as crucial parts of Jakarta's long journey.
Meanwhile, spots like Pantjoran Tea House offer unique experiences for history buffs seeking cultural immersion—ideal for photos or casual Coffee in a vintage atmosphere.
For unconventional adventures, Martello Tower ruins on Kelor Island provide historical exploration paired with aesthetic ocean views.
The Cultural Office ensures continuous monitoring and maintenance of all sites, including guidance for managers and owners.
Miftah also invited public participation in preserving this heritage.
"DKI Jakarta Provincial Government urges everyone to actively preserve Cultural Heritage as shared legacy for current and future generations," said Miftah.
