Jakarta State University (UNJ) has once again taken strategic steps to support national Sports development. The university, known for its strong foundation in sports science, has officially established cooperation with the Executive Board of the Indonesian Golf Association (PB PGI).

This collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on November 28, 2025, at Jakarta Golf Club, Rawamangun, East Jakarta. The signing was conducted directly by UNJ Rector Prof. Komarudin and PB PGI Chairman Japto Soelistyo Soerjosumarno.

The event took place in a warm and optimistic atmosphere. Several parties attended the event, including PB PGI management, university leadership, UNJ Labschool administrators, and partners supporting this cooperation.

UNJ Launches Golf Academy

This MoU signing also marked a significant milestone for campus sports with the launch of the UNJ Golf Academy.

Through this academy, UNJ becomes one of the pioneering universities establishing an education-based golf development center for training and achievement enhancement.

The UNJ Golf Academy is designed as an inclusive training facility open to the public. This program is expected to strengthen the ecosystem of Golf in Indonesia while nurturing high-achieving athletes.

Golf has often been perceived as a sport associated with specific social groups due to its relatively high costs. This perception has made the sport seem inaccessible to many.

Through this academy, UNJ aims to broaden access by providing training facilities and development programs at more affordable rates.

Focus on Youth Athlete Development

Beyond public access, the UNJ Golf Academy also serves as a development platform for talented young athletes.

The training program focuses not only on playing techniques but also includes mental strengthening, sports science utilization, and athlete character building.

PB PGI Chairman Japto Soelistyo Soerjosumarno welcomed this collaboration positively, considering the partnership with UNJ a strategic move to expand golf development in Indonesia.

"Cooperation with UNJ is a strategic step to expand golf development from early childhood to professional levels. We hope the UNJ Golf Academy can become a tangible example that golf is an inclusive sport accessible to anyone with interest and potential," he stated.

Academic Support from UNJ

Meanwhile, UNJ Rector Prof. Komarudin emphasized that the university possesses strong academic foundations to support golf development.

According to him, UNJ's Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences (FIKK) has lecturers, students, and alumni with significant potential in this sport.

"UNJ has the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences, where lecturers, students, and alumni have extraordinary potential and achievements in golf. Additionally, golf courses exist in specific study programs at FIKK with established curricula. Hence, lecturers, students, and alumni can all participate in training at the UNJ Golf Academy," he explained.

"The launch of UNJ Golf Academy is part of our contribution to advancing national sports, particularly golf. We want to create broader opportunities for the public to engage with golf while preparing athletes ready to compete globally. Cooperation with PB PGI will strengthen our journey toward becoming a university that creates national impact," he added.

Through this partnership, UNJ and PB PGI commit to developing various sustainable golf training, coaching, and research programs.

This step further solidifies UNJ's position as a university actively delivering innovations in sports, education, and national achievement development.
