Alwi Farhan's debut at All England 2026 is more than mere participation. For the coaching team, it's part of the process to build his competitive mentality at the elite level of the BWF World Tour Super 1000.

The world's oldest tournament will be held at the Utilita Arena Birmingham, England, from March 3-8. For Alwi, this marks his first major stage on the elite World Badminton calendar.

Men's singles coach, Indra Widjaja, emphasized that the decision to bring Alwi to the All England is a long-term investment.

"Taking Alwi to the All England for the first time, I conveyed that this involves going through match processes he hasn't yet experienced and will face. People do say the All England has an intimidating atmosphere or aura, but regardless, I believe this is valuable experience for him," stated Indra in an official release on Tuesday.

The "Intimidating" Atmosphere and Mental Test

The All England is renowned not only for its history but also for its pressurized atmosphere.

Media spotlight, long-standing traditions, and the arena's aura often pose a unique test for debutant players.

Indra stressed that mental readiness is a crucial factor alongside technical aspects.

Therefore, once the Draw results were out, the training program immediately shifted to the pre-competition phase, intensifying match simulations so Alwi can quickly adapt to the pace of play and tournament pressure.

Additionally, the coaching team has prepared an acclimatization program in England to help him adjust to the time difference and temperature. These small details often determine performance at the highest level.

First Challenge: Ayush Shetty

In the opening round, Alwi will face India's representative, Ayush Shetty. This match will be a direct test of how ready the debutant is to handle the pressure of a Super 1000 event.

In another men's singles category, Indonesia is also represented by Jonatan Christie, who will face Jia Heng Jason Teh.
