Ajax Defeated at Euroborg, Marten Paes Concedes Three Goals to Groningen

In the match, Paes' goal was breached after just six minutes through a Thom van Bergen goal, capitalizing on a Dies Janse cross. Groningen led 1-0.

Ajax tried to respond to the hosts' pressure and finally equalized in the 30th minute. The goal came from a Davy Klaassen header connecting with an Anton Gaaei cross, making it 1-1.

After the goal, the visitors tried to increase their attacking intensity to turn the game around before halftime. However, no chances were converted into additional goals.

The 1-1 scoreline held until the end of the first half.

Entering the second half, Groningen appeared aggressive again. In the 52nd minute, Travis Hernes nearly put the hosts ahead, but his effort from inside the penalty box was blocked by Marten Paes.

Groningen's pressure finally paid off in the 66th minute. Substitute Oskar Zawada scored to put the hosts back in front 2-1.

Zawada showcased his sharpness again just seven minutes later. The Polish striker scored his second with a header after receiving a cross from Thijmen Blokzijl.

That goal sealed the match. Groningen secured a 3-1 victory over Ajax, claiming three important points at home.
