Manchester United and England National Team Defender, Harry Maguire, has been given a 15-month suspended prison sentence. The verdict was handed down by a court in Greece to the 32-year-old player regarding an incident on the island of Mykonos in 2020.

Maguire's case originated from an altercation on Mykonos that resulted in his arrest by local Police authorities.

According to a Sky Sports report on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, the incident in the popular tourist area evolved into a lengthy legal process that has continued to this day.

In 2020, Maguire was found guilty of several serious charges. He was accused of causing repeated physical Injuries, attempting to bribe officers, and committing violence against public officials after two policemen were reportedly assaulted during the incident.

At that time, Maguire was detained for two days. He denied all allegations against him, though the court still imposed a suspended prison sentence of 21 months and 10 days.

Following that court decision, Maguire appealed and obtained the right to a full retrial.

In the Greek legal system, filing an appeal automatically voids the previous verdict until a higher court completes the new trial process.

The retrial was delayed multiple times before finally being reopened. During this process, Maguire faced three main charges: minor assault, resisting arrest, and attempted bribery.

The court again found Maguire guilty on all three counts with a suspended sentence, meaning the Manchester United player won't have to serve jail time.

Maguire's legal team reportedly plans to appeal this latest verdict again.

Maguire's case also involved his brother, Joe Maguire, and friend Christopher Sharman. Both were also found guilty in the Mykonos incident.

They had previously received suspended prison sentences in 2020 and both denied committing any offenses.
