Persija failed to secure full points at home, Borneo FC forced a draw in injury time.

The ambition of Persija Jakarta to secure three points at home while closing the gap on league leaders Persib Bandung was dashed. In a high-tension BRI Super League match against Borneo FC at Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 evening, the Kemayoran Tigers conceded during injury time.

This result felt like a defeat for Persija after leading twice but failing to maintain their advantage until the final whistle.

From the opening whistle, the match unfolded with high intensity. Persija took the initiative in play, dominating ball possession and applying pressure in the visitor's defensive territory.

Persija created opportunities through Maxell Souza inside the penalty box in the 19th minute and through Allano Lima's impressive actions. However, neither chance resulted in a goal. 

Borneo FC also had their opportunities. Yet Mariano Peralta's movements failed to alter the scoreline.

Persija broke the deadlock early in the second half through Gustavo Almeida's goal, putting the hosts ahead 1-0. 

Borneo FC increased their attacking intensity in search of an equalizer. Juan Villa's flick in the 62nd minute beat Persija Goalkeeper Andritany, leveling the score at 1-1.

Persija regained the lead in the 75th minute when Fabio Calonego's powerful strike from outside the penalty box surged into Borneo FC's net.

Just as the match seemed destined to end in a Persija victory, drama unfolded in injury time. Ikhsan Zikrak pounced on a loose ball to score in the 90+4th minute. 

The 2-2 scoreline held until full time, denying Persija full points on home turf.

This draw leaves Persija stuck in second place with 51 points. Meanwhile, Borneo FC sits just below them with 50 points. Persib Bandung still tops the Standings with 54 points.
