The competition among the top teams in the Super League is heating up after Persib Bandung and Borneo FC both secured crucial wins in matchweek 23. These two victories also reaffirm Persib and Borneo's ambitions in the title race this season.
Playing at the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium on Thursday, February 26th WIB evening, Persib crushed visitors Madura United with a resounding 5-0 score.
Ramon Tanque opened Persib's goal fest with a header in the 12th minute, capitalizing on Kakang Rudianto's cross. Persib led 1-0.

Persib's dominance in the first half was capped off by a Uillian Barros goal. Persib led Madura United 3-0.
Showing no let-up in the second half, Persib's pressure continued. A goal from Andrew Jung in the 80th minute further compounded Madura United's misery.
Nine minutes later, it was Frans Putros' turn to score, sealing Persib's 5-0 victory over Madura United.
The additional three points further solidified Persib's position at the top of the provisional Standings with 53 points from 22 matches. Persib leads Persija in second place by three points, who have played 23 matches.
This big win confirms Persib's status as the strongest title contender, especially with their goal-scoring productivity entering the crucial phase of the competition.
Borneo FC 3-1 Arema FC: Pesut Etam Closes Gap on Persija
In another match, Borneo FC secured a full three points at Segiri Stadium, Samarinda. Pesut Etam defeated visitors Arema FC with a final score of 3-1.
Borneo's three goals came in the first half. Juan Villa scored twice and Caxambu added one goal to give Borneo a 3-0 lead at halftime.
High intensity and effective finishing meant the hosts practically controlled the match from the early minutes.
Arema managed to score a consolation goal through their Brazilian striker, Dalberto, in the 64th minute. However, that goal wasn't enough to shift the momentum.
This victory narrows the gap between Borneo and Persija. Borneo has collected 49 points from 22 matches.
With the margin getting tighter, the competition among the top three in the Super League is becoming fiercer and more open.
In this 23rd matchweek, Persib confirmed its dominance at the top, while Borneo sent a signal that the title chase is far from over.
