Indonesia has entered a new chapter in the development of 7-a-side Football. The launch of the Indonesia Football 7 Federation (IF7F) marks an official step toward more structured governance and global ambitions.

Presidential Special Staff for SMEs and Digital Technology, Tiar Karbala, inaugurated the federation during the Kick Off 2026 agenda in Jakarta on Sunday, February 22, 2026.

This momentum is not merely ceremonial, but an affirmation of a new direction for Indonesian football 7 aiming for systematic and competitive progress.

“Today we are not just launching an organization, but building a home for Indonesian Football 7 to stand equally at the international level,” stated Tiar in a written release.

As the official authority, IF7F will coordinate national competition standardization, referee development, match equipment, national team training, and international expansion pathways.

With a federative structure, Football 7 now has stronger legal and organizational foundations to support its rapid growth over the past two years.

The IF7F launch coincided with the Minisoccer Super League (MSL) Awards 2025.

The awards ceremony recognized contributors to the Football 7 ecosystem—players, coaches, club managers, and supporter communities.

MSL Chairman Lutpi Ginanjar emphasized communities' role in this Sport's growth.

“MSL Awards aren’t just ceremonial. This honors those who built Football 7 from grassroots communities into a national movement,” he said.

Over the past two years, MSL’s ecosystem reportedly engaged over 232,000 players across Indonesian cities.

This reflects significant participation growth, demanding more integrated organizational systems.

Strategically, IF7F’s formation positions Indonesia for Intercontinental Cup qualification—a pathway to the Football 7 World Cup in Italy in 2026.

If realized, this would mark Indonesia’s debut in elite global Football 7.

Beyond sporting achievements, Tiar noted Football 7’s domino effect on Indonesia’s economy, particularly SMEs.

Competition and community growth drive economic activity in sports equipment, facility providers, event organizers, and creative/digital industries.

With IF7F officially launched, Indonesia now speaks not only of alternative Sports trends but of building a Sustainable Ecosystem—from community roots to global ambitions.
