Manchester City can look confidently towards their pursuit of this season's Premier League title. Between the posts, they possess one of the world's best goalkeepers, Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The Italian Goalkeeper came into the spotlight after making a spectacular save to deny Liverpool a point at Anfield last Weekend

That moment not only secured a crucial result for City but also solidified Donnarumma's status as a vital foundation in the title ambitions of Pep Guardiola's side.

The save was so extraordinary that Guardiola was even seen mimicking the reflex movement of his keeper on the touchline. A spontaneous gesture illustrating just How crucial that moment was in such a high-intensity match.

The debate over Donnarumma's quality surfaced on BBC Radio 5 Live's Monday Night Club program. The discussion covered aspects like footwork, distribution, and composure under pressure.

Several panelists even gave Donnarumma the edge over other big names in the goalkeeping position.

The Observer journalist Rory Smith believes that in high-pressure matches, Donnarumma is the top choice.

"In a game with very high pressure, would you pick Donnarumma or David Raya? You'd pick Donnarumma. In Europe, the only one who strangely often gets overlooked is Thibaut Courtois.

"I think probably those two are the best in the world. Donnarumma has an imposing physique. Raya is fantastic, but Donnarumma feels more convincing to me."

This statement underscores that Donnarumma is now part of the elite conversation among the world's goalkeepers, alongside Courtois and Raya.

Former Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given also highlighted the massive impact of Donnarumma's presence at the Etihad.

"When he became available on the transfer market, it was an opportunity too good to pass up.

"He's 26 years old and could be there for another 10 years.

"That save late in the game, many goalkeepers would struggle to keep that out.

"His physique. A presence that some goalkeepers don't have, he has it. I think you can see the reaction of his teammates, they didn't think he was going to save that.

"Looking across the league, who is better right now? Maybe David Raya."

At 26 years old, Donnarumma is entering his prime years as a goalkeeper. The combination of his height, quick reflexes, and calmness in big games makes him a long-term asset for Manchester City.

If this season's Premier League title chase is decided by pivotal moments, the save at Anfield could be remembered as one of the turning points.

As long as Donnarumma stands between the posts, City know they have a last line of defence capable of changing the course of the season.
