Persija Jakarta has sent a clear signal in the mid-season transfer window of the BRI Super League 2025/2026. The Kemayoran Tigers are not just patching holes, but building a foundation, combining medium-term investment with international class experience through the signings of Cyrus Margono and Jean Mota.

From the goalkeeper department, Persija has officially contracted Cyrus Margono, the young keeper born in New York, USA, on November 9, 2001. He is signed for 2.5 seasons.

Persija Director Mohamad Prapanca emphasized that Cyrus is not merely an emergency signing, but part of the capital city team's ongoing project. He described Cyrus as a quality young keeper with international experience and a character that fits the team's needs.

"We hope his presence can add strength and depth to the squad, and become an important part in building the team's foundation for the next two to three seasons," said Prapanca.

Cyrus's career path shows an unusual journey for a player now joining the Indonesian League. He developed through the United States training system with Denver Pioneers (2020–2021) and UK Wildcats (2021), before moving to Europe to play for Panathinaikos B in the Greek second division from 2021–2024.

The 2025/2026 Season marked a new chapter when Cyrus played at the top level of the Kosovo League with KF Dukagjini. He recorded 12 appearances totaling 1,089 minutes of playing time, after collecting 17 matches and 1,530 minutes the season before.

These statistics suggest Persija has recruited a young goalkeeper already accustomed to professional competition pressure.

Cyrus did not hide his ambitions with the Kemayoran Tigers.

“I am very ready to take on the challenge with Persija. I am very enthusiastic and happy to come to Jakarta to join Persija as a big team in Indonesia. I will do my best in every training session,” said Cyrus.

While Cyrus represents the future, the signing of Jean Mota is expected to provide an immediate impact.

The Brazilian midfielder was brought in to strengthen Persija's midfield for the second half of the 2025/2026 Super League.

The player born in Sao Paulo on October 15, 1993, is contracted until the end of the season with an option for a one-year extension.

Mota's track record includes playing for several major Brazilian clubs such as Portuguesa, Santos, Fortaleza, and EC Vitória.

His experience grew richer when he played in Major League Soccer (MLS) with Inter Miami from 2022–2024.

Before moving to Jakarta, Mota was recorded as playing for Vila Nova FC in the 2025–2026 season.

Persija places high hopes on Mota's role as a tempo-setter and source of creativity in midfield.

Mota welcomes his new challenge with high motivation. He stated he is very enthusiastic about making his debut in the Persija jersey.

"I chose Persija because it is a big club and is fighting for the title this season. I will dedicate my best abilities to bring joy to the Persija supporters," said Mota.

With the arrivals of Cyrus Margono and Jean Mota, Persija has now brought in seven new players during the mid-season transfer window.

They are Fajar Fathurrahman, Alaeddine Ajaraie, Paulo Ricardo, Shayne Pattynama, Mauro Zijlstra, Jean Mota, and Cyrus Margono.
