Lamine Yamal has once again etched his name into Barcelona's history books. Yamal's goal tally for Barcelona now surpasses that of legendary Argentine footballer Diego Armando Maradona.

Yamal's goal against Albacete Balompie in the Quarter Finals of the 2025/2026 King's Cup wasn't just a match-winner sending his team through; it marked an era.

As reported by Barcelona's official channels, this additional goal brings Yamal's total for the club to 39 goals. This figure is one goal more than Maradona, who scored 38 goals while wearing the Blaugrana shirt.

However, Maradona needed only 58 matches to score his 38 goals, while Yamal required 135 matches to reach a higher tally.

Two different time periods, two different generations, now connected by one equally iconic statistic.

In Barcelona's all-time goalscorers list, Yamal now occupies 71st place, one spot above Maradona in 73rd place.

This goal count cements Yamal's contribution. Slowly but surely, he is writing his own history at the Catalan club.

The goal against Albacete also brought another personal record for Yamal. At 18 years and 205 days old, he became the youngest player in La Liga to score in four consecutive matches across all competitions.

At Barcelona, the next youngest players with similar records are Paulino Alcantara (19 years 44 days) and Vincenc Martinez (19 years 120 days). These names from the past become relevant again due to the emergence of a teenager named Lamine Yamal.

Since the 2013/2014 season, only eight Barcelona players have managed to score in at least four consecutive matches across all competitions, including Yamal.

The other seven names are Lionel Messi (19 consecutive matches), Luis Suarez (10 consecutive matches), Robert Lewandowski (five consecutive matches), as well as Neymar, Ousmane Dembele, Raphinha, and Ferran Torres.

In the 2025/2026 season, Yamal's performance continues to show consistency, with 14 goals and 12 assists across all competitions.

He has become one of the primary engines of Barcelona's play, making himself almost irreplaceable under coach Hans-Dieter "Hansi" Flick.

Of the 29 matches Barcelona has played this season, Yamal has featured in almost all, including 18 league games.

His contribution directly impacts the team's achievements. Barcelona currently tops the La Liga table, has reached the Copa del Rey semi-finals, and secured a place in the Round of 16 of the Champions League.
