The Indonesia Masters 2026 title holds special meaning for Malaysian mixed doubles pair Chen Tan Jie/Toh Ee Wei, serving as their initial step to navigate increasingly fierce world-level competition throughout the 2026 season. Their victory at Istora isn't merely a trophy, but a mental and technical foundation toward higher achievements.
Chen/Toh secured the championship title after defeating Danish pair Mathias Christiansen/Alexandra Boje in a three-game final battle with scores of 15-21, 21-17, 21-11. The match took place at Istora Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, on Sunday, January 25, 2026.
This triumph came through a challenging journey. Chen/Toh initially trailed after failing to develop their gameplay in the opening match. Pressure from Christiansen/Boje's aggressive play disrupted the Malaysian pair's rhythm.

However, strategic adjustments and improved consistency became key to their resurgence. Entering the second and third games, Chen/Toh appeared calmer, patiently building rallies while capitalizing on opponents' errors.
"We still must learn much from top players. Most crucially, we must believe in ourselves, partners, coaches, and our team. Never surrender easily and dare to attempt new approaches—that's paramount," stated Toh.
Toh emphasized focus maintenance and mutual motivation as decisive factors, especially during critical match phases.
"We couldn't execute well in the first game. But we fought back, continuously encouraged each other, and focused point-by-point, particularly in the third game," Toh explained.
Meanwhile, Chen Tan Jie highlighted communication as their fundamental strategy, especially under final-match pressure.
"Communication is vital for us. Whether executing plans or facing adversity, we always strive to trust each other," Chen affirmed.
This victory marks historic significance: the first time since Indonesia Masters' 2010 inception that Malaysia claimed the mixed doubles crown. This achievement underscores the remarkable progress of Malaysia's mixed doubles sector at Super 500 level.
Beyond technical aspects, Chen/Toh praised Istora's atmosphere, renowned among iconic global Badminton venues.
"Istora's atmosphere is extraordinary. We thank supporters who energized us," Toh acknowledged.
Carrying the Indonesia Masters 2026 title, Chen/Toh now approach upcoming major tournaments with heightened confidence, recognizing consistency and adaptation as primary challenges in elite world competition.
