Amid efforts to strengthen the national Tourism ecosystem, PT Aviasi Tourism Indonesia (Persero) or InJourney is preparing major steps in Hotel Management across Indonesia. This state-owned holding company in aviation and Tourism plans to significantly increase managed hotels from 39 to 106 by 2026.
"Currently we manage 39 hotels, but this year will consolidate to 106 hotels," stated InJourney President Director Maya Watono during a Press Conference titled "4 Years of InJourney: Creating Together, Preserving Indonesia" held in Jakarta on Monday.
This expansion plan isn't just about numbers, but part of a major consolidation through corporate action. Maya explained the process is still being discussed with the Investment Management Agency (BPI) Danantara as InJourney's shareholder.

Although consolidation details haven't been fully disclosed, Maya emphasized InJourney's primary direction is refocusing each Business line to its core strengths.
This approach is believed to create a healthier and more sustainable Business foundation.
"Thus, we're returning everything to align with core business. The goal is to focus on business and implement fundamental, sustainable business models moving forward," Maya said.
In tourism, this strategy opens opportunities for professionally managed hotel networks integrated with aviation destinations and infrastructure.
InJourney aims to ensure hotels become not just accommodations, but integral parts of the complete Travel Experience.
This ambition aligns with long-term vision to strengthen tourism SOEs for global competitiveness. Maya stressed the importance of solid foundations for sustainability.
"We must build strong foundations so SOEs under InJourney can become robust, sustainable companies capable of competing with global benchmarks," Maya stated.
One concrete manifestation is transforming Grand Hotel De Djokja, a historical heritage hotel in Malioboro's heart, Yogyakarta Special Region.
InJourney plans to launch this transformed hotel as a New Tourism icon in 2026.
Operating since 1911, this building witnessed national history. General Sudirman, Maya noted, once used it as his headquarters.
"This is InJourney's effort to preserve Indonesian Culture. We want to restore De Djokja to its 1911 condition," Maya expressed.
By managing 106 hotels and revitalizing heritage properties, InJourney positions itself not just as a tourism operator, but as a guardian of Indonesia's cultural and historical narratives. (ANTARA)
