While part of Jakarta enjoyed the Isra Miraj holiday, tourist traffic surged northward. The roar of ferry engines grew busy again, transporting thousands of travelers to the Thousand Islands, an archipelago offering clear waters, white sandy beaches, and a slower pace of life.

Tourists seized this Holiday moment to briefly escape the city's bustle. Thousands of Domestic Tourists and foreigners packed the sea routes heading to this tourist area.

"A total of 2,152 Foreign Tourists and domestic tourists were recorded visiting the Thousand Islands during this year's Isra Miraj holiday," said Sonti Pangaribuan, Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Sub-Department (Parekraf) of the Thousand Islands, in Jakarta on Friday, January 16, 2026.

According to Sonti, the high number of visits is a strong indicator that the Thousand Islands still holds a special position as a Favorite Destination for people to spend their short holidays.

The influx of tourists spread across several main entry points. Marina Ancol Pier recorded 596 visitors. Muara Angke Port was the busiest route with 1,414 tourists.

Additionally, 73 people crossed via Tanjung Pasir Pier and another 69 via Cituis Pier.

She stated that this surge reflects the high interest of tourists in vacationing, especially during holidays close to the Weekend

Visitors used their time to enjoy the seascape, marine activities, and the atmosphere of the natural islands.

The number of Tourist Visits still has the potential to increase as the Isra Miraj holiday period continues.

Amid the rising tourist activity, authorities reminded everyone of the importance of maintaining safety and Environmental Conservation

The Thousand Islands is not just a Holiday destination, but also a fragile marine ecosystem that needs to be protected together.

"Let's maintain cleanliness for shared comfort and the preservation of the Thousand Islands area," she concluded. (ANTARA)
