The classic duel between Persib and Persija will take place at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at 15:30 WIB. Beyond its prestige, this match also becomes a battle for the top spot in the BRI Super League 2025/2026 Standings after Borneo FC fell at Persita's home ground.

Borneo FC lost to Persita with a final score of 0-2 at Indomilk Arena on Friday, January 9, 2025. Goals from Javlon Guseynov and Aleksa Anderjic forced Borneo FC to leave empty-handed.

This defeat leaves Borneo FC with 37 points, opening an opportunity for the winner of the Persib vs Persija match to overtake the top position from Pesut Etam.

Currently, third-placed Persib and second-placed Persija both have 35 points. The winner of this classic duel will collect 38 points and temporarily lead the standings.

However, if the match ends in a Draw, both teams will each gain 36 points, remaining in second and third positions below Borneo FC.

A Draw could allow fourth-placed Malut United (34 points) to overtake both. If they defeat hosts Persebaya at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium on Saturday at 15:30 WIB, Malut United would reach 37 points.

Amid standings pressure, Persib carries psychological momentum into the classic match. The defending champions have dominated the last 10 encounters against the Kemayoran Tigers.

They've secured five wins compared to Persija's two victories, with three matches ending without a winner.

Their latest meeting in February 2025 at Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi, ended in a 2-2 draw. Persija's first-half goals by Gustavo and Firza Andhika were answered by Nick Kuipers and David da Silva for the Bandung Tigers.

With tight standings, immense public pressure, and a long rivalry history, this Persib vs Persija clash transcends mere prestige—it's about which team proves most ready to claim the Super League summit, at least until the next matchweek.
