Rizki Juniansyah, Indonesia's proud young weightlifter, successfully clinched two gold medals at the 2025 IWF World Championship held in Forde, Norway, on Tuesday (7/10/2025) early morning Indonesia time. Competing in the men's 79-kilogram category, Rizki delivered an extraordinary performance that was not only powerful but also historic.

Breaks World Record in Clean and Jerk

In the Clean and Jerk category, Rizki achieved a perfect lift of 204 kilograms, shattering the world record and securing his first gold. His total lift reached 361 kilograms—combining 157 kilograms (Snatch) and 204 kilograms (Clean and Jerk)—earning him a second gold in the total lift category.

Rizki also claimed bronze in the Snatch category after lifting 157 kilograms, though he failed in two subsequent attempts at 162 kilograms.

Support from Fellow Countryman

Not only Rizki, but another Indonesian lifter, Rahmat Erwin Abdullah, impressed by winning silver in Clean and Jerk with a 203-kilogram lift, just one kilogram shy of Rizki.

The men's 79-kilogram competition proved fiercely contested. North Korea’s Ri Chong-song took gold in Snatch (163 kg) and silver in total lift (360 kg), while Egypt’s Mohamed Younes secured bronze in total lift (360 kg). South Korea’s Son Hyeon-ho completed the Clean and Jerk podium with 198 kilograms.

From the men's 65-kilogram class, senior lifter Eko Yuli Irawan contributed to the nation's pride with a bronze medal, lifting a total of 137 kilograms last Saturday.
